Yesterday, an exceptional human was laid to rest.

Our patrol was graced by his rock steadiness, his courage, his skills, his humanity, and his humility in service to others for so many years.

We are grateful to have been a small part of his rich and extraordinary life.

We send our heartfelt condolences to his beautiful family.

This National Volunteer Week, ASPA recognises the incredible volunteer ski patrollers across Australia who give their time, skills and energy to keep our alpine communities safe.

From first tracks to last sweep, in freezing winds, storms and bluebird days, volunteer patrollers are there to assist injured guests, support resorts and help make the mountains a safer place for everyone.

Your professionalism, teamwork and commitment embody the true spirit of volunteering.

Thank you to every volunteer ski patroller for the countless hours you contribute to training, response, and support of alpine visitors throughout the snow season. Australia’s alpine community is stronger because of you.

The transformation from then till now has provided benefits to the local Ulu population.
