Kogan & District Rural Fire Brigade

Kogan & District Rural Fire Brigade Our brigade was created by locals who wanted to protect the district. We are full-time workers, hobby farmers and tree changers.

We have a variety of skills, backgrounds and experiences which assist us in our efforts to protect people, property and the environment. We undertake a variety of tasks aimed at preventing and fighting fires. Prevention includes educating the community by providing advice on home and property fire protection. We conduct hazard reduction burns, using fire to reduce excess vegetation and minimise th

e potential for bushfires to get out of control. We are also classed as an all hazards organisation. We have been involved in conjunction with the Western Downs Council, QFD and SES in Qld flood clean-up.

Lighting a hazard reduction burn on your property? Spark a convo with your neighbours!

If you are applying for a Permit to Light Fire it is important to notify your adjoining neighbours.

This should be done in enough time for them to:
- Object.
- Make arrangements.
- Ask for you to conduct the fire in such a way the impact on them is minimal.
