This week at Amaroo EEC students were truly inspired by nature as they immersed themselves in our Eco Art program. Students used elements of texture, line, colour and shape to tell their own story of their experiences with the natural world.

They also used art to convey gratitude to special people in their lives, as well as giving back to Country by creating a collaborative ephemeral artwork before going back to school.

A big thank you to our colleagues from Toohey Forest EEC for visiting today. It was a valuable opportunity to connect, collaborate, and share ideas, experiences, and practice. We always appreciate the chance to learn alongside passionate educators & support staff who are committed to creating meaningful learning experiences for young people. This week at Amaroo EEC students took on the role of 'entomologists in training' as they explored the wonderful world of Mini-Beast - the insects that make our world rich with diversity and function as a health system. Some friendly King parrots popped into our outdoor classroom to see what the students were learning and to let them know how important insects are to ensure their survival too! Thank you students and staff for learning with us!

This week at Amaroo EEC students reflected on the possibility of "If trees could talk" throughout our program, connecting with tree friends, taking their time to work collaboratively to find better solutions with sustainable development, and share their appreciation, commitment and care for trees and the important role they play in our lives. Thank you, students, for your persistence and passion in making our future one we can all enjoy.

On this day, World Environment Day, we'd like to reflect on the progress of our Koala Fodder Trees, planted on October 18th, 2025, as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations.

We're proud of the work that we continue to do every day and the support from community members who helped make this possible.

Thank you, HSSC students, for going 'All In' for reconciliation. We were pleasantly surprised by your gift of handmade badges, and your enthusiasm throughout the afternoon. A special thanks to Mrs Donna Poole for leading the smoking ceremony with cultural pride, connection to Country and engagement of all students present. Thanks to Mr Matt Bishop for supporting students in all activities.

For Amaroo EEC, National Reconciliation Week is a time to come together, pause and reflect on our shared history, and consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation every day.

This wet week at Amaroo EEC there were dynamic adjustments made to our program delivery to ensure safety and curriculum alignment for our visiting students and staff. Our program 'If Trees Could Talk' saw students deeply connect with trees, reflecting on the gift's trees bring, and students' own strengths they can call forth to protect the trees. Thank you staff and students for your flexibility and safe approach to learning on centre grounds today - your commitments to living responsibly inspire our improvement work.
