The Bayside Glen Eira Kingston Local Learning and Employment Network (BGK LLEN) is part of a network of 31 Victorian LLENs funded by the Victorian State government to support continued strong pathways from school to further education and work for local young people. The funding supports the development of networks and partnerships to improve the participation, engagement, attainment and transition outcomes of young people. Established in 2002, the pivotal role of the BGK LLEN is to act as a regional strategic and facilitation body by undertaking research, building relationships with local schools, businesses and industry groups and listening to the needs of our stakeholders. Our local and regional networks and partnerships enable us to support schools to engage, both geographically and by industry, with business and industry stakeholders. The BGK LLEN facilitates government contracts (currently DET’s LLEN contract and DHHS’ Engage contract) as well as fee for service project management, research, facilitation and professional learning.

25,000 Students and Counting
Since launching in 2024, VIC VICE has reached an incredible milestone of 25,000 student participants across Victoria.
For BGKLLEN, it’s great to see a program creating opportunities for young people to explore careers, connect with industry and discover pathways they may not otherwise have had access to.
Through our work with schools, industry and LLEN partners, BGKLLEN is proud to contribute to helping students broaden their horizons and make more informed decisions about their futures.
A big thank you to everyone who has helped make this milestone possible. We look forward to continuing to connect more young people with meaningful career experiences.

Student Success Story
Catherine is studying a Certificate III in Design Fundamentals (Design) and recently put her learning into practice through work experience at Kwik Kopy.
The opportunity gave Catherine an insight into a professional design workplace and the chance to see how the skills she is developing through her course are used in industry.
Thank you to the team at Kwik Kopy Cheltenham for welcoming a student and supporting our work experience program

There’s nothing quite like learning in a real salon environment!
For students completing a Certificate II in Salon Assistance, work placement is such a valuable part of the learning journey. It gives students the opportunity to put their training into practice, build confidence, learn from experienced professionals and develop the communication and teamwork skills that come with working with real clients.
We love seeing Anastasia grow in confidence, learn new skills and become part of the salon team during her placement at Bailey & Co. Hair Salon, Black Rock

It’s great to see one of our Vocational Major students has completed his second week of work placement at Park Road Timber and Hardware
Alex enjoyed a mix of customer service, stock management and learning about different timber and building products, as well as the opportunity to head out on-site and see how the products are used in the real world.
Alongside VM, he’s completing a Certificate II in Construction Pathways, so this experience is giving valuable industry exposure and helping connect his classroom learning with the workplace.
A big thank you to the team at Park Road Timber and Hardware for providing such a varied opportunity!

It’s been fantastic to see our VM students out in the workplace this week, getting a real taste of what working life is all about.
From customer service and stock management to learning about products and developing their industry knowledge, they’ve been getting stuck into the day-to-day realities of work — and doing a great job.
A special thank you to our local employers for giving our students this opportunity: Park Road Timber and Hardware (Mitre10) and kwikkopycheltenham both in Cheltenham, and HAIR SALON IN BLACK ROCK in Black Rock village.
We really appreciate your support in helping our VM students build confidence, skills and valuable workplace experience
