According to the Oxford Learner's Dictionaries, "wow" is primarily an exclamation used informally to express great surprise, admiration, or amazement. It is also used as a verb meaning to impress someone greatly and as a noun referring to a great success- all of which could be used to describe the efforts of our 12 swimmers over the weekend..

Kai, Jade, Keira, Levi, Lachlan, Evan, Bella, Breeze, Aleesia, Blake, Drew and Alex swam alongside 900 other swimmers from 55 other clubs, across 76 different events. Kerang was represented in 32 events, where our swimmers managed to improve on their entry times from the qualifiers 27 times. The hard work and dedication of our team shone through with a whopping 25 new PBs achieved in the Semi Finals- this is a testament to each swimmers dedication to the hard work, and determination to improve.

Jade was back on Sunday for the Freestyle finals where she continued to excel and improved on her semi final PB.

Bella and Jade then spent Sunday afternoon in a JX clinic with Olympian Josh Beaver, and current Dolphins Tara Kinder, Isa Boyd, David Schlicht, and Calvin Reed. What an amazing opportunity for them both.

An amazing weekend of swimming, rounding out our 25/26 competitive season.
Shout out to Paige for her assistance with ensuring the swimmers got to the call room on Saturday.
Also need to say a massive thank you to Brett Makeham for dedicating his time this season, but especially for the past 2 weeks. He has dedicated many hours to these swimmers and ensured they push themselves to reach their full potential. Thanks Brett!!

Thankfully this awesome bunch of swimmers love doing what they do, and in the words of Tara Kinder โ€˜A happy Swimmer is a fast Swimmerโ€™

We are aware of the forecast storms tonight.

โœ… Lessons will go ahead as scheduled.

For the safety of all participants, our pool policy states:

โšก If lightning is detected within 10 km of the pool, all swimmers will be required to exit the water immediately- the trainer will hand them over to parents if this is the case!!

โฑ๏ธ Swimming may only resume once 30 minutes has passed since the last lightning strike.

We appreciate your understanding as the safety of our swimmers, families and volunteers is our top priority.

๐Ÿ’™ Thank you for your cooperation

Today was an incredible day, full of so many achievements!
We love being able to watch the progress the kids have made during the season, and today was no exception.
It doesnโ€™t matter whether they were swimming 1 lap or 200 laps, the excitement and the joy when they reached the end was amazing!

Over our 2 badge days we had 30 swimmers swim a combined total of 942 laps.
83 badges were earned and whopping 47.1kms swam.

Big thanks to all the parents who supported, counted laps, and encouraged all our swimmers.
Days like today donโ€™t happen without you ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Big shout out to Miss Ruby who was aiming for her 150m & 200m distance badge this arvo.
Once she had achieved 200m she realised that the 400m badge was a way cooler colour and wanted the purple badge so off she went again not stopping until she had earned the purple one!!
Congratulations Ruby!
Donโ€™t forget about our next badge day on Sunday from 1.30pm!! What badge will you go for??

A big congratulations to all of the swimmers competing in Swan Hill this evening- a competition update will be posted over the next few days.

No lessons Thursday Feb 12th!!

Good luck to swimmers hoping to achieve badges on Friday or Sunday, to the swimmers representing their school in the all schools on Friday night, to the comp swimmers in St Arnaud on Saturday or those swimming at zones on Monday in Swan Hill.

Unfortunately due to the forecast maximum temperature being below 24 degrees, the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be closed tomorrow, 12 February.

Due to this closure, scheduled Morning Laps session at these pools will not occur.

There has been an increase in the number of reported cases of gastroenteritis (โ€œgastroโ€) within the Gannawarra. This highly contagious illness can spread quickly through households, workplaces, childcare centres, and public settings.

Symptoms can include vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, fever, and nausea. Most people recover within a few days, but the illness can be more severe for young children, older adults, pregnant people, and immunocompromised individuals.

You can help reduce the spread of gastro by:
๐Ÿ’ง Washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before preparing or eating food, using the toilet or changing nappies.
๐Ÿ  Staying home if you are unwell.
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธUsing disinfectant to clean high-touch areas, such as taps, toilets, and benchtops.
๐Ÿšฐ Drinking plenty of water.
โŒ Not visiting local swimming pools.

If you have concerns or symptoms worsen, contact your GP or call Nurse on Call on 1300 60 60 24.

For more information, visit the Better Health Channel's gastroenteritis page, located at https://tinyurl.com/3h9xxty7
