KEMPSEY NAIDOC WEEK - July 5th to July 12th

Join Kempsey community in a special week of celebrations and being proud of Culture, Connections and Community while reflecting on the past 5 Decades.

NAIDOC:
For fifty years, NAIDOC themes have spoken to survival, resistance, culture and pride. They have honoured Elders and leaders, celebrated creativity, and challenged the nation to listen, reckon and act. Each theme has marked a moment in time, capturing where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples were, and where the country needs to pay attention.

50 Years of Deadly is both a reflection and a declaration. It acknowledges the strength it has taken to reach this milestone, not by chance, but because generations of people refused to be silenced. It recognises the organisers, artists, activists and communities who carried NAIDOC forward year after year, ensuring it remained grounded in culture and community.

NAIDOC has always been more than a single week. It is a platform for truth-telling, a celebration of identity, and a statement of continuity. Today, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are leading change across every field. From health and education to media, business and the arts — telling their own stories, in their own way, on their own terms.

Burrun Dalai value our partnerships and relationship with Durri ACMS supporting our young people in this way with community are investments and connections we are proud of.

Strong Partnerships, Strong Future

Today we commenced an important collaboration between Durri ACMS, Macleay Vocational College and Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation to support our young people around Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) awareness, education, and access to support services.

This important work is about more than education — it’s about creating safe spaces, building trust, and ensuring our young people feel supported, informed, and empowered to make strong choices for their health and wellbeing.

By coming together as services, we are strengthening our community and investing in the future of our next generation. Collaboration like this allows us to wrap the right supports around our young people and walk alongside them on their journey.

We thank everyone involved in this partnership and acknowledge the commitment to making a real difference in our community 💛

In 2025 we created our next 5 year Strategic plan with the same incredible team at Nous Group that Dhulawang Aboriginal Corporation has recently worked beside.

We opened the floor up with all our team at Burrun Dalai, our Board, our networks and major stakeholders to highlight what’s important to our children, carers, community and staff.
This Strategic Plan we are incredibly proud of as it shines a light on what’s important, what’s our focus is & what are our priority outcomes are for our children’s future through our actions, programs and service delivery.

As we work towards a new way forward we are so proud to see fellow ACCO’s pave their own inspiring road into the future supporting children, communities and families.

A big week with our strategic planning project. Some really important questions were asked- "what is Dhulawang about", "what are our core values" and what is our vision or "north star"? ⭐️

We have worked with CEOs and leads of a number of organisations including Durri ACMS, Aboriginal Employment Strategy - Kempsey, Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation, Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service, Aboriginal Corporation to help us build a path forward.

With the support of community & our partners at Nous Group - we are very close to finalising our plan for the future. Watch this space! 👀

✨Join our free 2 year program ages 3-4:

Our Play and Learn Program combines play-based activities with educational content to foster cognitive,
thinking & exploring, communication, creativity, social, and emotional development in young children.

Through interactive packs, games, stories, and creative projects, children learn essential skills for school while having fun.

We also assist families with accessing supports the child or family may need.
