💚🚑 HERE’S TO THE DADS WHO RECKON “SHE’LL BE RIGHT” COUNTS AS FIRST AID… 😂

Happy Father’s Day from St John WA – Kellerberrin!

Today we’re celebrating the dads, grandads, stepdads and father figures who keep our families running — usually with duct tape, a shed full of “useful stuff” and absolutely no need to read the instructions. 😏

You know who you are…

🔧 Owns 47 screwdrivers but can never find the one he needs.
🌱 Mows the lawn like he’s preparing the MCG for the Grand Final.
🚗 Says “we’re not stopping again” approximately 14 minutes into a road trip.
🔥 Stands around the BBQ giving unsolicited cooking advice.
😴 Claims he was “just resting his eyes.”
🩹 And firmly believes “she’ll be right” is an acceptable first-aid assessment.

⚠️ For the record, St John WA does NOT officially recognise “she’ll be right” as a treatment plan. 😂🚑

A special shout-out to our St John dads who manage work, family, volunteering and somehow having the pager go off the second dinner hits the table.

Thanks for the bad jokes, questionable repairs, free advice nobody asked for and — most importantly — always showing up when your family and community need you. 💚

A Little Admin Update ❤️

A quick note from our team at St John WA – Kellerberrin.

Our admin has been working from home recently while caring for some very unwell little ones. 🥺❤️

We sincerely apologise for any delays in responding to messages, emails or getting those admin jobs ticked off.

We’re still doing our best behind the scenes — just with a few extra cuddles, tissues and sick-day chaos thrown into the mix! 🤧😂

Thank you so much for your patience, understanding and support. We’re incredibly grateful to be part of such a wonderful community.

🌿 Yarning First Aid in Action!

On Thursday, some of our Northam and Merredin Admin crew took a trip to St John WA HQ for a catch‑up with Lucy La Cunza, who’s championing the incredible Yarning First Aid program.

Developed through three years of consultation, Yarning First Aid is a practical, culturally safe, hands‑on training program designed for First Nations communities — and delivered by First Nations facilitators. It’s all about building trust, confidence, and connection when learning life‑saving skills.

Our team also toured the State Control Centre, where 000 calls are answered — a fascinating look behind the scenes at how emergency responses come together.

We’re proud to support this initiative as it moves into pilot delivery in the Kimberley, helping train local facilitators, create employment pathways, and strengthen first‑aid capability across Western Australia.

It’s National Volunteer Week, which means it’s officially time to celebrate the legends who willingly answer calls at ridiculous hours and somehow function on minimal sleep and maximum coffee. 🚑☕😂

A massive THANK YOU to our amazing volunteers at St John WA - Kellerberrin. 💚

These are the people who:
✔️ Drop everything when the call goes off
✔️ Know the difference between “just a scratch” and “maybe we should call an ambulance”
✔️ Spend their free time helping others
✔️ Can survive an entire shift powered purely by servo snacks and determination

Our volunteers are the heart of our subcentre and the reason we can continue supporting the Kellerberrin community when it matters most.

Whether they’re attending emergencies, helping at events, training, fundraising, or untangling oxygen tubing for the 47th time this week — we appreciate every single one of them.

So if you see one of our volunteers around town this week, be sure to say thanks… or at the very least, buy them a coffee. Trust us, they probably need it. 💚☕🚑

🚪 We’re Hitting Pause! 🚪

Our admin is off on a well-deserved break (we’re not jealous at all… promise 😜), so the St John WA – Kellerberrin office will be closed from 4th May to 12th May.

Don’t panic—we haven’t disappeared! Our regional team will still be keeping an eye on things behind the scenes 👀
