๐ŸฅŠ Garden Showdown: Bower Bird Battle Royaleย ๐ŸฅŠ

Quite the drama unfolded in the Garden recently. Forget the roses, the real action was ringside!

Two determined male Satin Bowerbirds (Ptilonorhynchusย violaceus) went head-to-head in what looked like a stylish wrestling match.

Glossy black feathers, wings spread, beaks poised- each bird lunging at other, wrestling around in the mulch - to win what weโ€™re calling the โ€˜Ultimate Garden Heartthrobโ€™ย title.

Why do we think this?
๐Ÿ’™ Serious stare-downs were involved with their striking blue eyes
๐Ÿ’™ Impressive dance moves - think John Travolta in Greaseย or Saturday Night Fever!
๐Ÿ’™ Male Satin Bowerbirds are also master interior decorators. Instead of building nests to impress females, they constructed elaborate โ€˜bowersโ€™ and decorated them almost exclusively in shades of blue!

Weโ€™re not sure who won, but both contenders gave it their all and we hope they both found their perfect mate ๐Ÿ’™

Next time you visit, keep an eye out for a carefully placed blue treasure - it might be part of a masterpieceโ€ฆ which could lead to the next round in this garden showdown! If you do spot them, we kindly remind everyone to respect their space.
