More than 100 classic, vintage and custom vehicles lined the Port Broughton foreshore for the annual Port Broughton Classic and Vintage Show N Shine on Sunday, May 31.

The sixth staging of the event attracted entrants and visitors from across South Australia, with crowds gathering throughout the day to view a range of restored classics and custom-built vehicles.

Yorke Peninsula’s “3 Chicks in Spain” have raised $53,500 for the Childhood Cancer Association after completing the Camino de Santiago in Spain.

The fundraising trek began as a way for Stansbury’s Megan Hoile to deal with the grief of losing her son Charlie, who died from cancer in 2021 at the age of 16.

For 12 years, Marie Heesemans has cleaned and cared for the buildings housing some of Moonta’s much-loved heritage attractions — the Moonta Mines Museum, Miner’s Cottage and Family History and Resource Centre in the former School of Mines.

Now all she can do is hope the buildings — and the precious items they house — are not falling into disrepair.

Yorke Peninsula appears to have again missed out on significant new funding in the 2026-27 state budget, apart from paid crew at Yorketown Ambulance Station and an upgrade of the station.

These were the only Yorke Peninsula-specific items identified in the budget papers presented by Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis at the annual media budget lock-up at Adelaide Convention Centre on June 4.
