Junortoun Fire Brigade - CFA

Junortoun Fire Brigade - CFA Junortoun Fire Brigade - CFA is a volunteer fire and rescue service in the suburbs of Junortoun & Longlea Operate and maintain breathing apparatus.

Junortoun has long rural history dating back to the early settlement of Bendigo. As the population of the area grew it became evident that there was a need for a rural fire brigade to serve the growing population. In response to this need, in 1943 the Junortoun Rural Fire Brigade was formed. The area mainly consisted of rural properties, state forest and a few private residences. The original fire

station consisting of a small tin shed was constructed on private land, close to the current site. In 1990 a new fire fire station was built in Popes Road (Current site) to keep pace with the needs of the growing population. Fire fighting vehicles at the time were upgraded to meet the changing risks in the community. Currently we have 43 registered members of which twenty seven are active fire fighters. All our members are trained by qualified CFA personnel with training courses being conducted at the CFA’s Huntly training complex, in house or at other sites as arranged. Brigade membership consists of both female and male volunteers whose skills and qualifications are varied and include:

Minimum skills (all active fire fighters). Drive emergency vehicles under operational conditions. Respond to isolated alarms. Senior first aid. Crew Leadership
Respond to Urban (structure fires)
Hazmat events
Chain saw

Our risk profile is Wildfire with Structure.

Knowing the difference between the Fire Danger Period and a Total Fire Ban is important. Whether you are planning to do farm work, burn off, head out camping, or use equipment to perform hot works outdoors, we all have a part to play in keeping Victoria safe. Breaking the rules can lead to fines, but more importantly, it can put communities at risk.
