🎨 The Faces of Jindabyne Public School 🎨

What happens when every student and staff member at Jindabyne Public School becomes part of one artwork?

Our 2026 Student Representative Council (SRC) took on the exciting challenge of planning and organising a whole-school mural celebrating the people who make up our JPS community.

Every student and staff member has contributed their own self-portrait, creating a unique snapshot of our school community in 2026. While every face is different, which reflects the individuality, personality and creativity of the people who make up JPS, together, they form one collective portrait of our school.

The mural now sits proudly beneath the words: “Be better than the person you were yesterday.”

This phrase has become something of a motto for our school, and the mural is a wonderful reflection of what it means to be part of JPS.

Most importantly, this artwork is more than just a mural. It is a record of our school in 2026; capturing the students and staff who make JPS what it is at this moment in time. We hope The Faces of Jindabyne Public School will be enjoyed, celebrated and remembered by our community for many years to come.

A huge congratulations to our SRC for bringing this wonderful idea to life, and thank you to every student and staff member who helped make the mural possible!

💙Happy Fathers Day! 💙

Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible dads, stepdads, grandfathers, carers and father figures in our Jindabyne Public School community!

On Wednesday, we brought our JPS community together for a special Father’s Day BBQ Breakfast before school, and what a fantastic morning it was! 🍳

It was wonderful to see so many of our dads and carers able to join us at school, enjoying a delicious breakfast, catching up with one another and, most importantly, spending some special time with their children.

We know how important the support, encouragement and care of our families is in helping our students learn, grow and thrive, and we loved having the opportunity to celebrate the special men and carers who play such an important role in the lives of our students.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the morning such a wonderful celebration of our JPS community.

Wishing all of our JPS father figures a very Happy Father’s Day! We hope you have a fantastic day filled with plenty of love, laughter and family time.

💙 Celebrating Our School Support Staff! 💙

This week, from 31 August to 4 September, is School Support Recognition Week. This is a time to recognise our School Administrative and Support Staff (SASS) - the incredible people who help our school, our students and our community thrive every day.

Learning is at the heart of everything we do at Jindabyne Public School and our wonderful teachers play an incredibly important role in helping students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to learn and grow. But we also know that every child learns differently. Each student has their own strengths, needs, interests and ways of engaging with learning. That’s why our amazing school support staff are such an important part of our school community; helping ensure every student has the opportunity to participate, learn and feel supported.

From our front office team who are often the first friendly faces our families see, to our School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) who work alongside students and teachers in classrooms, our Counsellors who support student wellbeing, and our specialised staff who keep our school running behind the scenes, every role makes a difference!

These staff members help create an environment where every student has the opportunity to be included, supported and successful.

So this School Support Recognition Week, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to our incredible support staff. Your patience, expertise, care and dedication make a difference to our students and our school every single day.

We are incredibly lucky to have you as part of the JPS team! 👏

⛷️ Snow Australia State Interschools Snowsports Championships 🏂

Last week, 77 Jindabyne Public School students proudly represented our school at the State Interschools Snowsports Championships. It was three days of fun in the sun, with students competing across both ski and snowboard events at Perisher.

Our students represented JPS with distinction, not only through their results, but through the sportsmanship, resilience and respect they demonstrated before, during and after their events. We are incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves throughout the competition.

🏆 JPS was crowned the Top Public School in the State and finished 2nd overall in the Co-ed Primary School category. What an outstanding achievement!

We are also excited to have 53 students progressing to the Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships next week. We wish all our competitors the very best as they take on the next stage of the competition!

A huge thank you to our students, parents, teachers, administrative staff and volunteers for their support and for helping make this event possible. 👏

Congratulations to all our students on an incredible effort!

While some of our students are hitting the slopes, our At School Program students are keeping the fun going right here at Jindabyne Public School!

From movie making and cooking, to getting creative with art and learning the basics of golf, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

⛷️ Our 2026 Snowsports Program is Underway! 🏂

Yesterday marked the exciting start of our 2026 Jindabyne Public School Snowsports Program, with students heading to the slopes for the first of many fantastic days on the snow!

Living in the unique environment of the Snowy Mountains gives our students the incredible opportunity to learn and grow in one of Australia's most extraordinary outdoor classrooms. From first-time skiers and snowboarders to those continuing to build their skills, our Snowsports Program encourages confidence, resilience, perseverance and a love of the alpine environment.

A huge thank you to our dedicated staff, volunteers and families who help make this program possible each year. We can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store!

Here's to another amazing year on the slopes! ❄️

Jindabyne Gauans Jindabyne Yonkas

Our Stage 3 debating teams have represented our school with confidence and skill throughout the first four rounds of the Premier's Debating Challenge, competing against schools from across the region, from the Snowy Mountains to Queanbeyan. Students have worked hard to prepare persuasive arguments and have debated a range of topics relating to education and issues affecting young people. Our Gauans team has recorded one win along with three very close contests, while the Yonkas have had an outstanding campaign, winning all four debates to remain undefeated. We are incredibly proud of the effort, teamwork and resilience shown by both teams and look forward to cheering on the Yonkas as they compete at Zone level next!
