Snowy Monaro Performing Arts Festival.

Last Thursday night, a group of enthusiastic students showcased their love of dance with a vibrant performance at the Snowy Monaro Performing Arts Festival. They performed their piece, Better When I'm Dancing, with infectious enthusiasm and joy. Mrs Raine and Ms Nikora would like to congratulate the students on putting together such an amazing program in just five weeks.
A big thank you to Mrs Grixti for her assistance on the night of the performance, Miss Millie, from Studio 22, for generously providing costumes, resources, and her time, Mrs Findlow for her support of the program and attendance on the night, and to all the parents who came to cheer on our talented students.

Reconciliation walk
On Friday, our school leaders attended the 2026 Walk for Reconciliation in Cooma. The students had the opportunity to hear from Elders and members of the Aboriginal community in our region. They learned about the significance of bridges as symbols of unity between cultures, listened to the Dreamtime story of how the Kookaburra got his laugh, and participated in singing and dancing.
We extend our thanks to the Yukemboorong Aboriginal Corporation for inviting our students to this important and culturally significant event.

It’s been an exciting time for athletics at JPS, with students recently competing in both our annual JPS Athletics Carnival and the Snowy Mountains District PSSA Athletics Carnival.

On 4 May, our school carnival was packed with energy, team spirit and unforgettable moments as students gave their all across track and field events. From close finishes and personal bests to cheering from the sidelines, the day showcased the resilience, participation and sportsmanship that make JPS so special.

Following the carnival, a number of students proudly represented JPS at the Snowy Mountains District PSSA Athletics Carnival last Friday, delivering outstanding performances throughout the day.

A huge congratulations to all students involved, with four students crowned Age Champions and many athletes qualifying to progress to the Regional Carnival in Canberra next term!

To top it all off, Jindabyne Public School proudly brought home the Champion School trophy for the district! πŸ†

A massive thank you to our staff, families, helpers and volunteers who supported both events, including our wonderful Jindabyne P&C volunteers for running the canteen and helping keep everyone fed and refreshed throughout the carnivals.

We’d also like to extend a special thank you to Sarah Forsdyke from Jindabyne Little Athletics for generously volunteering her time and expertise to help ensure the smooth running of the District Carnival.

We are so proud of all our students and can’t wait to see our regional qualifiers back in action next term!

πŸ’™ Do it for Dolly at JPS πŸ’™

Tomorrow, Thursday 28 May, our Stage 2 students will be leading a special Do It For Dolly Day m***i fundraiser at JPS.

Although we were unable to hold the event on the official date due to a number of school commitments, we are proud to still come together as a community to support such an important cause.

Do It For Dolly Day is a national day of action that encourages kindness, starts important conversations around bullying and reminds young people of the power of looking out for one another. At JPS, we believe creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for every student is something worth standing together for.

Students are encouraged to wear blue to school for a gold coin donation, with all funds raised supporting the valuable work of the Dolly’s Dream Foundation.

Students will also be able to visit our blue hair decoration table during recess and lunch for a gold coin donation. πŸ’™

We look forward to seeing our school community come together in blue to spread kindness and support this meaningful initiative.
