🚫LOCAL FIRE BAN - SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND🚫



Due to heightened fire conditions, a local fire ban will be in place for the following Local Government Areas:

- Somerset

- Lockyer Valley

- Ipswich

- Logan

- Scenic Rim



For residents in these areas, the ban will be in place from 0001hrs Thursday 2 October to 2359 Tuesday 7 October.



Under a local fire ban all open fires are prohibited and all Permits to Light Fire which have been issued in the designated areas have been suspended for the duration of the ban.



All fires during this time are classed as an emergency - Call 000

🚨 41 Floors. Full Gear. Fighting for Lives. 🚨

On Saturday the 23rd of August, dedicated local rural firefighters representing Tamborine, Birnam, and Tamborine Mountain brigades will climb 41 floors in full gear — not for glory, but to fight firefighter cancer.

🩶 This year’s mission: Real Firies Wear Grey: Because Grey Matter Matters — raising awareness and funds for brain cancer.
Every step honours the mates we’ve lost and protects the ones still serving.

⚠️ If it’s flooded, forget it ⚠️

Our sunshine state has been impacted by very heavy rainfall the past few days, and it’s continuing in some areas.

We are seeing plenty of roads, causeways and parks under water.

Our QFR swiftwater rescue firefighters are highly-trained and ready to respond, but please don’t put them in danger by deliberately entering floodwater in any way.

Stay safe out there and remember to always call Triple Zero (000) immediately in an emergency.

Although fire danger ratings are dropping across the state this week, now is not the time to be complacent.

If you are conducting any hazard reduction burns on your property it is vital that you:

🔥 Have a Permit to Light Fire for any burn that is over two metres in any direction.
🔥 Supervise the fire until the burnt area is cool.
🔥 Stay across weather conditions to ensure they are suitable.
