We’re already in the second last week of term, and it’s a busy one at our school! This week, our students are taking part in some fantastic events including the PSSA league, the Netball Gala, our NAIDOC celebrations, and the OC writing class. It’s wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and effort from students and staff alike. Thank you to all our families for your ongoing support as we wrap up the term. Let’s make these final days memorable and full of fun!

A Glance Into Our Week - Koalas
What a fantastic week of learning in Koalas! 🐨
In English, students explored poetry through the poem A Passing Storm.
In Mathematics, they challenged themselves by partitioning numbers to solve two- and three-digit addition problems, really making their brains sweat! They also enjoyed investigating how shapes can be transformed by changing their orientation.
In PE, students participated in a variety of fun games that focused on developing their fundamental movement skills.
In Music, they learnt about graphic notation and how it can be used to represent long and short sounds.
In History, students explored the history and traditions of the Ancient Olympic Games.
Well done, Koalas, on another week of curiosity, effort and achievement!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ StarStruck 2026 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Last week, we were incredibly proud of the students who represented Jewells Primary School at StarStruck 2026. This outstanding event brought together students from schools across the region, providing a wonderful opportunity to collaborate, perform, and showcase their talents on a large stage.

Our students demonstrated commitment, enthusiasm, and professionalism throughout the experience, participating in dress rehearsals and two spectacular performances. They were excellent ambassadors for our school and should be commended for their hard work and dedication.

Congratulations to all students involved on their remarkable achievement. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Miss Wi******er, Mrs Mackaway, Miss Duric, and Mrs Gray for their organisation, support, and commitment in making this experience possible for our students. We are grateful for the time and effort they invested to ensure such a successful and memorable event.

Well done to everyone involved! 👏✨

⭐️BCoS Extravaganza ⭐️⭐️
On Tuesday 16th June students from our Jewells Primary School band and choir joined together with students from our community of schools - Belmont Public, Belmont North public, Floraville Public and Belmont High School - for a day of musical collaboration. This culminated in an extravagance of music in the evening where parents got to see their children perform all that they have been practising. It was a pleasure to see all students so happy in their musical space throughout the day and the excitement in performing it at night. Well done Jewells ⭐️👏⭐️

📚🔬 A Glance Into Our Week – Cassowaries 🐦
The Year 5/6 Cassowary class has been busy exploring the amazing systems of the human body in Science this term. Students have been designing and conducting fair tests to investigate how exercise affects heart rate. They measured and recorded their heart rates before and after physical activity, then analysed the data to see how rates change under different circumstances.
In English, we have been enjoying Worse Things by Sally Murphy. Inspired by the author's writing style, students have been creating their own definition poems, showcasing their creativity and developing their understanding of descriptive language.
It has been wonderful to see our students engaging in hands-on scientific inquiry while also expressing themselves through poetry. Well done, Cassowaries! 👏✨

🎉 Welcome to Our Newcastle University Prac Students! 🎉

We are excited to welcome two preservice teachers from University of Newcastle who will be joining our teaching staff for the remainder of the term.
