Humpback and Southern right muriyira (whales) are now passing through Booderee waters in peak numbers as the northern whale migration continues along the east coast. πŸ‹

For the Bherwerre people, these seasonal movements are deeply connected to Country - reflecting changing seasons, healthy Sea Country, and the enduring relationship between land, ocean and culture.

As the weather cools, now is one of the best times to head to the coast, slow down, and keep an eye out for these incredible visitors travelling past Booderee.

Yesterday was World Oceans Day, so we’re celebrating the rich marine life and sea Country that surrounds Booderee National Park. 🌊

From baruwaluwu (dolphins) riding the waves near Cave Beach, to migrating humpback and southern right muriyira (whales) travelling past Cape St George Lighthouse, and yiragala (seals) resting along the rocky shores near Murrays Beach Boat Ramp - Booderee’s waters are home to many incredible species. πŸ¬πŸ‹πŸ¦

For generations, Sea Country has sustained life, culture and connection. Today is a reminder of the importance of caring for our oceans and protecting the ecosystems that so many species and communities depend on.

We’re grateful to live and work alongside these beautiful coastal environments and the life they support. πŸ’™

With the long weekend coming up, we’d like to remind everyone to help care for Country while visiting Booderee National Park. 🌿

When rubbish is left behind, it can have serious impacts on the animals and ecosystems that call this place home.

Items like food packaging, plastics and cardboard are often mistaken for food by wildlife, which can cause injury, sickness and disruption to natural behaviours. Even small scraps left behind can attract pests and damage the environment.

If you’re visiting the park, please take your rubbish with you, secure loose items and consider bringing a small bag to collect litter you may see along the way. Every small action helps protect Country.

Let’s all do our part to keep Booderee healthy and beautiful for wildlife, community and future generations. πŸ’š

Dhagarr (Winter) has arrived at Booderee National Park β„οΈπŸŒΏ

Cooler days make the perfect time to explore the park’s walking trails, and we wanted to highlight one of our favourites today. The Munyunga Waraga dhugan trail, also known as the Murrays Loop, is a popular spot for walkers and visitors keen for amazing ocean views 🌊.

What are your winter plans around the park? πŸ™Œ

How cute is this swamp wallaby mum and bub 😍

We know how much everyone loves these beautiful animals, so here’s a friendly reminder on how to care for wildlife while visiting 🐾

β€’ Please give animals their space. Booderee National Park is their home β€” let’s not encroach upon its space, just like we wouldn’t want others in ours 🌿
β€’ Don’t feed wildlife human food. It can harm their health and lead to behavioural issues 🚫

Thanks to everyone for doing your part to help care for our park and the wildlife that call it home.
