I've just added these two to the library - anisoptera in lilac and orbit (bottom) from Ankalia (no longer producing), but aren't they gorgeous 😍

The learning curve with ring slings is so worth it imo

Hi all 👋 I'm Mickayla ( ) a naturopath, postpartum doula and certified babywearing educator who just loves carriers 😍 Mum to 1.5 littles 🧒🤰

I've been wanting to set this up for a looong time. Having the option to try on those carriers you see before spending your money, or just trial run new options is important for something so purposeful to motherhood. I have amassed a big carrier collection in the dreams of setting up a carrier library for mums to try on carriers, rent them out, find their style, and donate back to when their carrier time is finished. This is great low cost option for those that can't access a carrier or only need one for a short period of time (e.g. newborn styles or travel). 90% of our carriers are second hand as I really want to encourage reusability through this library ♥️

We (*I*) run a monthly meetup at the children's library every month, the sign up is in our links. You can come along and get help with your carrier fit or try out the library, or we have a private option in the comfort of your own home ☺️

What's in a ring sling when we're talking about them! If you've seen one of my videos you may have heard one or all of these terms. Some of these terms are similar to woven wraps as they have a lot of similarities.

Ring slings can be so versatile and be worn from newborn through to toddlerhood! They are one of the OG hip carries and offer full support for baby so truly hands-free. For those super advanced you could also use a ring sling for a torso and back carry.

Most ring slings are around 2m long with the two metal rings that the tail threads through to create tension. The weight of your baby helps 'lock' the fabric and stop it from moving through the rings.

Now, these can have a steep learning curve (compared to buckles or stretchies) BUT they are so fast once you got it and then it's in your brain forever!

FIRST FRIDAY OF EVERY MONTH - Free community event for testing out carriers, getting support, and just meeting others mums/carers. I will be bringing a lot of the library for playing with so if you've been keen to borrow, this is a great opportunity!

Myself and (hopefully another educator) will be there to answer any questions and assist with trying on different styles, or even doing some group demos. (i.e. if you want to learn back carry, woven wraps, ring slings etc)

Every month we'll meet up, no obligation, just book your spot each time you're available ☺️

You only know what you know... and now you know - despite safety weight ratings, not all carriers are designed or made for little infants in mind.

No adjustability in the panel height...
No adjustability in the panel width...

Following the ticks guidelines (i have it pinned), baby's face should be clear of the panel, at most reaching their lower earlobe. If you're not sure, please reach out to a certified babywearing educator 🫶

I have a whole post showing carriers that actually fit newborns (text over it so you can find it easily). This can be a good starting point, as there are many that DO take the time to design a carrier suitable for newborn to toddler.

I see newborns in compromised carrier fits almost every day and this is the most vulnerable age group so it's important you take the time to learn the TICKS guidelines and what a safe fit looks like 🫡 Once you know, it's in your brain forever 🧠

T (tight) - baby should be firm against you
I (in view) - you can always see their face clearly
C (close enough to kiss) - no neck craning
K (keep airways clear) - no fabric over their face
S (supported spine) - they have a natural J shape from neck to under their bum
