Despite recent local rainfall, much of Victoria is facing a forecast for a considerably warmer and drier spring than average. This combination is expected to accelerate fuel drying, leading to an earlier start to the fire season.

https://www.afac.com.au/public-resources/seasonal-bushfire-outlook-spring-2026

Throughout spring and summer, Inverloch CFA will deliver community engagement initiatives to support your seasonal preparation.

Our members will be available to guide you through developing a bushfire survival plan, preparing your property, and downloading the VicEmergency app ahead of high-risk days.

πŸš’ Weekend Meet the Team πŸš’

This week we're putting the spotlight on Judy πŸ‘‡

Judy moved to Inverloch full-time in December 2025, fulfilling a 28-year dream of living in our wonderful town. After years of balancing work and family commitments, she finally had the opportunity to join the brigade and give back to the community she now calls home. ✨

Since joining Inverloch CFA, Judy has enjoyed learning new skills, working alongside a supportive team, and becoming part of such a welcoming brigade. She is also a member of the FMR team and has recently taken on the role of Brigade Treasurer, helping support the brigade both on and off the fireground. πŸ“‹

Before joining the brigade, Judy worked as a Client Relationship Manager with a financial advice firm in Melbourne. She brings valuable experience to the brigade and enjoys contributing to the community while continuing to learn new skills. πŸ™Œ

Thank you, Judy, for your enthusiasm, dedication and ongoing service to both the brigade and the community. We're so grateful to have you as part of the Inverloch CFA team! πŸ‘πŸš’

πŸš’ Learning Together. Ready Together. πŸ’›β€οΈ

This weekend, members from Inverloch, Tarwin Lower and District CFA and Pound Creek Rural Fire Brigade Brigades came together at Inverloch Fire Station for a Cluster Training Session.

The day focused on building teamwork, strengthening connections and working alongside neighbouring brigades. Training together helps improve communication, build trust and ensure we're ready to respond as one team when our communities need us most.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and made the day a success. Every opportunity to train together makes us stronger, safer and better prepared for whatever comes our way. πŸ‘

🚨 National AusAlert Test – Monday 27 July 2026 🚨

On Monday 27 July 2026 at 2:00 pm (AEST), Australia will conduct a national test of the new AusAlert emergency warning system.

πŸ“± If you receive an emergency alert at that time, don't be alarmed β€” it is only a planned test to help Australians become familiar with the new system.

ℹ️ Please note: The current Emergency Alert system will continue to operate throughout the upcoming fire season. AusAlert is being tested ahead of its future rollout and will not replace the existing system this season.

Please help spread the word so everyone knows what to expect.

πŸš’ Weekend Meet the Team πŸš’

This week we’re putting the spotlight on Hayden πŸ‘‡

Hayden first joined the brigade as a junior member in 2004 before becoming an active firefighter in 2006. Inspired by his dad, who was also a brigade member, he has dedicated nearly two decades to serving the community. πŸ”₯

Over the years, Hayden has taken on the important role of Communications Officer, serving from 2010–2012 and again from 2017–2025, helping to keep crews connected and operations running smoothly during emergencies. πŸ“»

His commitment has been recognised with two significant honours: πŸ… The National Medal in 2022, recognising 15 years of diligent service to the CFA. πŸ… The National Emergency Medal in 2023 for his service during the 2019–2020 bushfires.

Outside the brigade, Hayden has worked at Big W Wonthaggi for nearly 20 years. When he’s off duty, you’ll usually find him fishing, camping with friends, or taking on the Melbourne Firefighters Stair Climb. This year marks his 9th climb, helping raise money and awareness for cancer research and mental health support. πŸŽ£πŸ•οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Thank you, Hayden, for your dedication, commitment and ongoing service to both the brigade and the community! πŸ‘πŸš’

πŸš’ This Week’s Training

This week’s training focused on getting familiar with the Ambulance Victoria vehicle and the equipment onboard, thanks to support from Ambulance Victoria paramedic Darcy, who is also a member of the brigade.

The session helped build our capability to support AV during First Medical Response (FMR) calls and strengthen how we work together across emergency services in delivering care to our local community.

Great effort from everyone in the brigade who took part β€” lots of engagement and a solid learning session all round.
