Part of one of the worlds largest fire fighting services, the Inverell 331 FRNSW station provides coverage to the community of Inverell for all firefighting and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) incidents. The station is a secondary resuce station and is fully equipped to deal with all kinds of emergencies including Structural and bush firefighting, rescue and HAZMAT. Inverell also provides backup to o

ther FRNSW stations in the New England and North West. Staffed with a Permanent Station Officer and Retained Firefighters, the Inverell Firefighting staff take great pride in their service to their local and regional community.

This Saturday, join us at the Inverell Fire and Rescue Station from 10am to 2pm.

You will have the opportunity to meet your local firefighters, receive a guided tour of the station, and watch live demonstrations. Additionally, there will be numerous giveaways for kids.

The VRA will be hosting a barbecue, with funds raised going towards supporting the local VRA. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš’

Extreme Fire Danger Rating = Zero Tolerance for Fires

The NSW Rural Fire Service has declared a Total Fire Ban for the Inverell, Glen Innes and Tenterfield Local Government Areas (LGA) due to an Extreme Fire Danger Conditions โ€” meaning fire conditions are highly dangerous and any fire could spread rapidly.

โŒ What you cannot do
Under a Total Fire Ban you MUST NOT:
โ€ข Light, maintain or use any fire in the open air (this includes campfires, bonfires or open burn-offs)
โ€ข Carry out any activity that may start a fire โ€” like welding, grinding, slashers, harvesters or machinery likely to spark
โ€ข Use wood or charcoal barbecues / pizza ovens (solid fuel)
โ€ข Discard ci******es, matches or other fire-starting material on the ground or out of vehicle windows

โœ… What you can do
Use gas or electric barbecues only if:
โ€ข A responsible adult is present at all times
โ€ข Clear of combustible materials within 2 metres
โ€ข You have water or extinguisher immediately available nearby

Fines & penalties
Breaching a Total Fire Ban is taken very seriously:
โ€ข On-the-spot fine: ~$2,200 for lighting a fire
โ€ข Court penalties: Up to $5,500 and/or 12 monthsโ€™ jail for starting a fire
โ€ข Discarding a cigarette during ban: fines can double
โ€ข If a fire escapes and causes damage, fines and penalties are much higher โ€” up to $132,000 and/or years in prison depending on circumstances

UPDATE: 11am
The Howell Road Fire is now being Patrolled by RFS volunteers to ensure all active fire is extinguished and any burning or dangerous trees that may be a problem in the coming days, are felled and put out today.

UPDATE: 10 pm. The Howell Road fire is now contained to hard lines. While some fallen trees and logs may still be burning internally, our hard working volunteer firefighters got the upper hand late this afternoon.
Local Brigades will return in the morning to ensure it is fully extinguished ahead of the hot dry windy weather which is forecast to return on Sunday.

A new fire has been reported in the Howell Road area, west of Gilgai.

RFS Brigades are on scene at a grass and scrub fire with no current threats to life or property.

In the current hot and windy weather, fires conditions can change quickly.

Ensure you have had a discussion with your family members and others in your household of what you will do if threatened by fire.

Fire +Rescue NSW are currently setting up 2 communication towers for community use these towers operate using sky-net and will provide the community with free WIFI and phone call capabilityโ€™s.

The first tower will be positioned at Uralla 475 station on the cnr or Salisbury and Maitland street while the other will be positioned at the Uralla Bowling club car park.

Access can be gained to these towers via WIFI - FRNSW_FREE

Ensure you are 100 metres from the either tower to gain connection.
