Scouting is a rewarding and welcoming experience, regardless of your age, gender, or any previous experience in Scouting. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the Traditional Custodians of this land and we pay our respects to Elders past, present and future.

1st Wearne Bay’s Scout Hall is located on the traditional lands of the Aboriginal nations of Dharawal. Illawong is an Aboriginal word meaning between two waters, referring to the Woronora and Georges Rivers on which we are located. Furthermore, we also recognise these peoples as Australia’s first sailors, artist, scientists, navigators, campers, bush walkers, engineers and campfire story tellers. Their knowledge and skills are an integral part for the future growth of Australia and understanding its unique attributes.

Learning skills that could make a difference! 🩹Joeys got hands-on last week with a First Aid night, learning how to stay calm, communicate clearly and help someone in an emergency. 🚑 Our teddies were the patients of choice as Joeys practised bandaging.

They also practised pretending to call 000, learning how to communicate what’s happening in an emergency and, importantly, knowing their home address. And of course, no Joey night is complete without a bit of fun: the band-aid relay had everyone racing to the finish! 🏃‍♀️🩹🏃‍♂️

Scouting is built on friendship, connection and looking out for one another. Today, take a moment to check in with your friends, family and fellow Scouts.

A simple "Are you OK?" and a willingness to listen can make a real difference. It reminds us that we never truly know what someone may be carrying, and that checking in with one another matters more than ever.

R U OK? has particular significance for our Wearne Bay Group this year. The past 12 months have shown us just how important our Scouting family can be during life's toughest times. It reinforces why reaching out, listening and supporting one another is so important.

We've included some unique Scouting opportunities to ask "R U OK?" because meaningful conversations can happen anytime, anywhere.

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads, Step-Dads, Grandads & Father figures! 💙

This week our Joeys & Scouts took on the Dads at Underworld Laser Tag: with plenty of laughs, friendly competition and just a tiny amount of competitive Dad behaviour!

Meanwhile, our Cubs headed out fishing, with Dads on hand to help bait hooks, untangle lines and help catch something other than sticks!

A huge thank you to all the amazing Dads and father figures who get involved, lend a hand, voluenteer as Leaders or help behind the scenes and help make Scouting so much fun.

Scouts hit the streets of Illawong for an urban hike. 🗺️👟 It was a little wet and foggy along the way, but thankfully a bit of rain wasn’t going to stop us! Scouts navigated their way around the local area, and when the hills got tough . . . there was plenty Oreos and lollies to fuel them.

Joey Scout Fun Day at the Sydney Tramway Museum 🚋 Today we joined Joey Scouts from across the South Metropolitan Region for a fun-filled day!

Joeys had a wonderful time exploring the Sydney Tramway Museum, discovering the fascinating history of the trams and, of course, enjoying a ride through the bush towards the Royal National Park. 🚋🌳 The adventure continued with a walk to Bungoona Lookout, where the Joeys kept their eyes peeled for local wildlife and enjoyed spotting animals and exploring nature along the way.

A huge thank you to all the Leaders and volunteers who helped organise the day, and to the Sydney Tramway Museum for providing such a unique setting for our Joeys to explore.
