Huskisson Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade is located in the village of Huskisson on the NSW South Coast. Our professional volunteers work hard to protect the community from bush and other fires.

Training is a massive part of what we do at Huskisson Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade !

Pictured is a recent skills refresher run by our brigade, ensuring that firefighters maintain their competency 🔥

From the moment you sign up and complete your initial training, you
are learning new skills for life.

The brigade runs training 3 times per month, with different topics and skills being refreshed each time. On top of that, there are many courses you can do to become qualified in a specialty like structural firefighting or truck driving.

Attend some sessions or all as a firefighter, there are no limits!

Phones, laptops, e-bike batteries. They all generate heat while
charging.

Charging on a bed, doona or pillow traps that heat against
fabric. Lithium-ion fires can start fast.

Charge on a hard, flat surface. Keep batteries off bedding.

Be fire safe this winter.

This morning, Huskisson Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade, NSW Rural Fire Service Basin View Brigade, NSW Rural Fire Service - Tomerong Brigade, NSW RFS - Vincentia Brigade and NSW RFS - Wandandian got together to undertake some hydrant booster system training 💦

Crews went to a number of local booster systems and walked through set up and operation, with Firefighters practically using a system at the end of the day.

Huskisson has a number of facilities with sprinkler and hydrant booster systems installed, training like this ensures we are ready and able to use the systems in an emergency 🚨

Yesterday, on thank a first responder day - Our Senior Deputy Captain, Joey Revesz was awarded the NSW RFS - Shoalhaven ‘officer of the year’ award by Rotary International 🏆

Joey received his award alongside various other officers from a plethora of emergency services at the Shoalhaven Emergency Services Community Awards ceremony hosted by Rotary -

Congratulations to those nominated and to those who also received awards!

Joey steps above and beyond what is required- supporting his fellow members though training, incidents and many other brigade activities.

Outside of the NSW Rural Fire Service Joey is a school teacher, showing his dedication to the wider community.

Thank a first responder day is all about thanking those who step forward and out into the community to help those in a wide range of different circumstances.

We are lucky to have a great team of Firefighters who are always working to make the community safer, with Joey being an integral part of our leadership team.

Thank you to all first responders, and massive thank you Joey for going above and beyond 🔥

Joining Huskisson Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade is less of a commitment then you think 🔥

Did you know that you DON’T have to attend EVERY call, training, maintenance or event when you’re a member of our Brigade?

Yes, we’d love it if on a reasonable basis you attended what you can, but we know that not everyone has lots of time ☺️

If you’d like to attend every, every second or every third or even fourth activity or call that’s perfectly fine, being a Firefighter is flexible

❌ No weekly rosters

❌ No expectations to attend everything

✨ No pressure ✨

Sound doable? Everyone contributes what they can and where they can. It’s a team effort!
