Grade 2 Dean/Wyszkowski have been learning about trees and their place in everyday life. Trees are an important part of the air we breathe and the things we use that make our lives easier and enjoyable. It was so lovely to hear about their learning in assembly yesterday. Here are some examples of their work.

Eliane (who is only 12!) has been selected to represent Tasmania in the Under 16 girls team at the 2026 National Indoor Cricket Championships at Casey Stadium (Melbourne) from 4-7 July 2026.

Our wonderful school community held a Free Dress Day today and raised $311 to help Eliane get to the championships in July.

Thank you to all our families for your generosity.

Last Friday, students from Cygnet, Glen Huon and Huonville Primary Schools took part in a story writing and collage workshop. The workshop was held at the UTAS "forest", a particularly unique building in Hobart and featured special guests Shaun Tan and Leigh Rigozzi. These two worked with students to inspire their creativity through storytelling and collage.

Shaun encouraged students to think creatively by changing expectations within their collage, considering the emotions of characters, and exploring who the main character might be. Students used these ideas to develop imaginative stories and unique collage artworks.

Here are some photos from the day.

Skinners Creek Bush Play is easy to access by parking on Sale Street and walking 500m south along the creek line to our central gathering space — the green area with the hut and wallaby sculpture. You can also park at The Esplanade (large gravel car park) and walk north along the creek if that suits you better.

We’re excited to welcome you for a deeper exploration and investigation of a Tasmanian animal species, and of course to fire up the Kelly Kettle.
Please bring a keep cup to help us reduce waste and enjoy a warm hot chocolate at the end of our play.

TSO Concert - "Sound Body, Sound Mind"

With packed audiences, HPS hosted two concerts for several Huon Valley schools and homeschool families on Friday, 22 May. Conductor Jack Mackin entertained this young audience with introductions to the orchestral "families," injecting humorous commentary and movement activities. This amusing and interactive approach had students engaged from start to finish!

Congratulations to the 32 runners who represented our school at the Huon and Channel Cross Country on Wednesday. Sadly the results were not completed on the day, but we have them now!

We had 18 students finish in the top 10 in their events, eight students won ribbons for a top three finish, an incredible effort and attitude from all our participants. Due to their amazing effort we came runners up in Division B, finishing only 21 points shy of Channel Christian School, who took out the shield. But we'll be back in 2027 to fight to get it back!

Congratulations to our team and thank you to the families who came out to support us.
