🏀 YEAR 8 BLACK RANGE BASKETBALL 🏀 Last Wednesday, our HC Year 8 Boys and Girls basketball teams headed to Ararat to compete against teams from across the district in the Black Range Competition.

All three teams got off to a great start, winning their first games of the day. Our Boys continued their strong form throughout the competition, winning all of their games and playing with great spirit. Their game against St B’s was a real highlight with the boys securing a win in the final minutes.

Our A Girls also had a fantastic day, winning all of their games and having plenty of fun - especially in their match against the Horsham B side! Our B Girls also had a great day, winning several matches and showing excellent teamwork and sportsmanship.

👏 Well done to all the students who participated. You represented HC brilliantly, showed great sportsmanship and, most importantly, enjoyed a wonderful day of basketball!🏀

🏀 YEAR 7 BLACK RANGE BASKETBALL 🏀 Last week, HC took four teams to Ararat to compete in the Black Range Basketball Competition.

Congratulations to our HC 1 Boys and Girls Teams on winning the Black Range Basketball Competition, these teams will now travel to Ballarat to compete in the Greater Western Region Competition on November 5. The HC 2 Boys team had a great day winning two out of four games and HC 2 girls who had many laughs during the day and managed to win one of their four games played.

A big thanks to Xavier S and Ryder T for coming along to umpire and Poppy M and Ruby B for making themselves available to coach the Girls teams.

A great day was had by all students, Mr Bruce, Josh, Katrina and Jason were thrilled with all students on their behaviour, respect they showed to others and their determination on the court. Well done Year 7’s it was an amazing day 👏🏼👏🏼

ASSOCIATION OF GERMAN TEACHERS OF VICTORIA POETRY COMPETITION STATE FINAL | Herzlichen Glückwunsch (congratulations) to Pippa H and Hannah M of Year 7 for representing Horsham College and the Wimmera Region at the AGTV Poetry Competition Secondary State Final, held in Melbourne on Saturday 22nd August.

Both students travelled to Melbourne to attend the event, where they recited their poems for two judges and had the opportunity to listen to other top recitals of German language, which they found inspiring.

For her efforts, Pippa H placed 5th in the state, one of only two rural students who placed in the Secondary DaF (German as a second language) category across Years 7 – 9. She was also one of only four students from government schools to place in the competition, and the only student to place from the Wimmera Mallee Region.

Congratulations to both students for attending the competition, reciting their poems so brilliantly and for embodying the Horsham College Values!

FOOTY FOOD DAY IN THE CANTEEN | Please be advised that the last day of term, Friday 18th September, is 'Footy Food Day in the Canteen'. During lunchtime on this day, an assortment of 'footy food' will be available and regular options at recess. Please note that QKR! App orders will not be able to be placed.
