What a great Law Week it has been!

As Law Week Tasmania 2026 comes to a close, we want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who got involved, both to the organisations hosting events and to the participants. You all helped make the week such a success.

To celebrate Law Week, we have put together this podcast discussing the Refugee Convention and claims for asylum based on sexual orientation.

This podcast is for service providers, referral partners, multicultural communities, the LGBTQIA+ community, and anyone interesting in learning more about the legal process and how people can claim asylum based on sexual orientation.

Sentencing workshops were held in the Supreme Court at Hobart and Launceston on Tuesday night as part of Law Week 2025. The ABC Hobart went along to the Hobart workshop and you can read the article below.

The last workshop in Hobart is tonight and the Supreme Court has opened up a few more spots if you are keen to get along. Bookings are essential through the Law Week Tas website.

How would you sentence this "armed robber"? Would you lock her up, or after hearing her personal story, would you be more lenient? The public is being given the chance to pass judgement on this very "case".
