Every day, Tasmania's nurses and midwives carry immense responsibility, supporting patients and families through life's most challenging and most rewarding moments.

That's why the ANMF Tasmania put nurse and midwife-to-patient ratios on the EBA26 negotiation table.

Safe staffing means safer workloads, better patient care, and a more sustainable future for our hospitals and healthcare services.

As negotiations continue, we're standing with members and fighting for the ratios Tasmania's nurses and midwives have told us they need.

Today, ANMF representatives and delegates attended further Public Sector EBA 26 negotiations, with discussions focused on securing safe nurse and midwife-to-patient ratios.

Ratios remain a key priority in improving workloads and delivering safe, quality care. We will continue to advocate for legislated ratios and safer workloads for our members as negotiations progress.

Today, concerned aged care nurses joined ANMF Tasmanian Branch Secretary Emily Shepherd on the state’s North West Coast to call on the Tasmanian Government to reinstate funding for the Comprehensive Palliative Care in Aged Care (CPCiAC) service.

Without this vital program, many frail, elderly residents may be forced into already overstretched Emergency Departments and away from the place they call home during their final days.

Funding three Clinical Nurse Consultants to continue this service would cost less than half a million dollars – a small investment that makes an enormous difference to residents, families and our health system.

Tasmanians deserve compassionate end-of-life care. We urge the Government to restore funding for the CPCiAC service.
