Do you live in Kingborough and have a young child?

The Peter Underwood Centre at the University of Tasmania want to learn about what life is like for families in Kingborough during a child’s first 1000 days (from pregnancy until about two years old).

Your story will help the researchers understand what makes things easier or harder for families, and how things can be better. The stories will be made into a guide that will help governments improve services.

The project is funded by SEED Futures.

If you are interested or have questions, please contact Dr Logan Linkston. Email [email protected] or phone 0494 626 982.

Carers Tasmania and Care2Serve are proud to celebrate National Reconciliation Week 2026 (27 May to 3 June). This year's theme All In aligns with our ongoing commitment to reconciliation through our First Nations Charter.

Developed through statewide consultation and adopted in 2024, the Charter outlines clear principles and actions that guide how we work with and for First Nations peoples – now and into the future.

Worried about potential changes to the NDIS?

A new Bill has been introduced to Parliament that will aim to bring recently announced changes to the NDIS into law.

Carers, families and anyone who has contact with the NDIS are encouraged to share their views on this legislation by making a submission* to the Senate Committee by 29 May 2026.

Submit here: https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Community_Affairs/NDISFutureGenBill

*A submission can be a short or long letter that you write where you share your lived experience, concerns about how an issue or change might affect you, or how something could better support you. It can be as simple as a few sentences. You can use speech-to-text apps to help you to write something. You can also choose to make submissions confidentially if you do not want to be identified or are worried about how raising concerns might impact you or the services you receive.

Media release - Carers Tasmania 2026-27 Tasmanian Budget

The 2026-27 Tasmanian Budget, branded by the Treasurer as “delivering a strong economy and caring community,” has failed to fund the next Tasmanian Carer Action Plan, leaving more than 87,000 family and friend carers without the structural support the Tasmanian Government legislated to provide.

“A caring community is one that funds its carers, and on today’s evidence, Tasmania is not yet that community,” said Carers Tasmania CEO Dr Samantha Fox.
