A Longford man missing in rugged bushland in the state’s north for more than three days has been found alive.

32-year-old Corey Chugg, who went missing in bushland at Mt Barrow near Nunamara on Sunday night, was located a short time ago by search and rescue teams.

Mr Chugg was found at the bottom of a steep incline, on the edge of the known search area.

He was able to talk with rescue personnel and, after undergoing assessment by medical specialists, has been transferred to hospital for further treatment.

The full extent of his physical condition and any injuries is not known at this time.

Mr Chugg's family has been advised that he has been found alive.

Planning a Tassie walk this summer?

Whether it’s a short stroll or a multi-day hike, different walks require different equipment, but being prepared is essential to any trip.

Day walk must haves:

✅ Light day pack
✅ Weatherproof jacket
✅ Hat & sunglasses
✅ Hiking boots (break them in first!)
✅ Gaiters
✅ SPF50+ sunscreen
✅ Water (one litre per person per three hours)
✅ High-energy snacks
✅ First aid kit
✅ Emergency space blanket
✅ Mobile phone (signal may drop)
✅ Rubbish bag (leave no trace)

Heading into alpine areas or overnight hikes? You’ll need extra gear.

Know before you go. Be prepared. Stay safe.

A search is underway near Cockle Creek for an elderly woman who went missing during a walk.

The woman, in her 70s, was with family members when she became separated and wandered from the track.

Police were alerted just before 5.30pm.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a walking party of SES volunteers have been dispatched to the area.

It's been a very busy week for the team, who have actively deployed volunteers over five consecutive days in the ongoing search at Mt Field. Conditions have been incredibly challenging and our members have worked tirelessly alongside our colleagues from Tasmania Police Search & Rescue and Ambulance Tasmania. While the outcome is not yet what we had all hoped for, we are proud none the less to have played our part.

Thinking of all the teams involved in this search and the family and friends of the missing man.

Thinking of all the teams involved in this search and the family and friends of the missing man.

Despite extensive search efforts in the Cradle Mountain area over the past few days, Victorian man Christopher Inwood has not been located.

Today, we made the decision to scale back the active search for the 52-year-old.

The area in Cradle Mountain where Mr Inwood was last believed to be has been comprehensively searched, and police will continue to follow up any new leads or information that may assist in locating him.

Our thoughts remain with his family during this difficult time.

Given the length of time he has been missing and the harsh weather conditions in the area, expert advice indicates his chances of survival are extremely low.

If anyone has information about Mr Inwood’s location or his recent movements, please call police on 131 444.
