Did you know that the Australian Government is building AusAlert?

AusAlert is a new national emergency warning system that sends urgent messages to compatible mobile phones and other mobile devices in a specified area.

It is planned to begin operating from October 2026. From then, the Australian Government and state and territory emergency services organisations will be able to send alerts.

In preparation, community testing will occur in June in the Launceston area, and then there will be a national test on Monday 27 July 2026. During this test, all compatible devices across Australia will receive a test alert.

Impulse control is a core executive functioning skill that affects how a child manages themselves. When impulse control is weak, students may act before thinking, struggle to wait their turn, interrupt others, take risks, or have difficulty stopping themselves once a behaviour has started.

Find out about Homeshare with this 2-Part online webinar.

Often there are few housing choices for adults with developmental disability. Traditionally, the only options include living independently, living in a group home, or to remain living in the family home.

Join this webinar series to find out about an alternative – Homeshare – in which a person with intellectual or developmental disability (Householder) lives in their own home with the support of a Housemate who doesn’t have a disability. Homeshare is based on exchange and is a more natural way for people to live in their own home with support.

Dates: 28th May and 11th June
Time: 6:45pm – 8:30pm

The City of Clarence has installed a new disability swim hoist at the Clarence Aquatic Centre, improving access for people of all abilities. The hoist was funded by an $11,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Howrah and replaces an ageing, unfit unit.

This will enable greater participation in physical activity, supporting health, wellbeing, and rehabilitation (encouraged for use by carers, therapists, and health providers). This provides first-time safe pool access for children with disability at the centre.
