The Health Revolution is here. Learn more about Tasmania's 20-year Preventative Health Strategy, spread the word and be part of the change 🌿👇

🚨 Tasmania’s Health Revolution starts now!

The Health Revolution, Tasmania’s bold new 20-year preventive health strategy, has launched today.

With one of the longest preventive health strategies in the world, Tasmania is stepping up, thinking big and helping lead the way on preventive health.

The Health Revolution is about the future we want for our state: one where more Tasmanians can live well, stay well and have the support they need to live life to the fullest.

Because the best health system is not only one that treats people when they become unwell. It is one that helps people stay well in the first place.

What’s happening first?

The Health Revolution has launched alongside Action Plan 1: 2026–2030, which sets out the first steps for bringing the Strategy to life.

Action Plan 1 will get things started by building the foundations for long-term change and supporting practical action across Tasmania.

This is not just a government plan. It is for all Tasmanians.

Almost 6,000 people helped shape the Strategy through consultation, sharing their views, experiences and hopes for a healthier Tasmania.

Today is a launch, but it is also an invitation: to keep working together, to keep thinking beyond the health system, and to keep building a Tasmania where living well is supported from the start.

📢 Get involved, spread the word, and be part of the change.

In August 2025, all Australian jurisdictions agreed to work towards mutual recognition of working with children check (WWCC) refusals or cancellations.

‘Mutual recognition’ means if someone’s WWCC is cancelled or their application refused in one state or territory (jurisdiction), and this decision is still current, they cannot get or hold a WWCC in another jurisdiction.

In simple terms: ‘banned in one, banned in all’.

This national approach is being introduced to strengthen the protections in place for children and young people across Australia.

This reflects community expectation that if someone has their WWCC cancelled or their application refused in one jurisdiction, they cannot get or hold a WWCC anywhere else.

A career in corrections comes with benefits that often go unnoticed. With 13 days off per month, the role is structured to give you genuine time away from work – for your family, your hobbies, and everything else that matters.

That kind of work-life balance is built into the role, not something you have to negotiate for.

Find out more and apply at www.correctionscareers.tas.gov.au

Applications close this Sunday 31 May.

Tasmanian company Fairbrother has been appointed to build the replacement Burnie Courts Complex, marking a major milestone in the delivery of this significant project.

Fairbrother is a respected Tasmanian business and brings extensive experience in delivering major public capital works projects across multiple jurisdictions throughout Australia. As such, the Department has every confidence that the Burnie Courts Complex will be delivered to a very high standard.

With Fairbrother now appointed and all approvals in place, construction of the replacement Burnie Courts Complex will commence next month (June 2026).

This project will support improved access to justice in the North West of the State by providing contemporary fit-for-purpose infrastructure for the community.
