As a veteran, it's truly heartwarming to witness the collaboration among these young children and teenagers. Their sense of teamwork and enthusiasm is nothing short of inspiring. The dedicated staff and families that make up this Cadet Unit deserve tremendous recognition for their unwavering support and commitment.
Having had the privilege of visiting this unit as a guest, I’ve observed firsthand the drills they perform during various ceremonies at cenotaphs, honouring the sacrifices of our veterans. The pride they display is palpable and moving.
To see these respectful young adults in action stands in stark contrast to the negative portrayals often seen on the news, where young people are framed as chaotic or troubled, selling their belongings out of desperation. Instead, here, they embody hope, responsibility, and the values that bind community and honour.

Looking for something different for the kids to get involved in?

If you’re heading to Acacia Park with the family, stop by the Logan City Community Cadets Inc open day and see what it’s all about. A great opportunity for young people to build confidence, make friends and learn new skills.

This Sunday we had a great group breakfast and coffee catch-up, with our members and their families.
There were many conversations had on various topics including the $5000 allied health limit being set by DVA. However the conversation turned to holidays which turned from three members going on a four day caravan trip, to forming a small nine caravan group. We now have members from various areas of Queensland now coming together which has now lead to us forming our own caravan and camping group as part of Veteran Social.
The group will advertise through our membership when we have groups of members going away, please enjoy the photos from Sunday and the photos to come when we go away.

The veteran community is like a family, and even our strongest and most experienced members sometimes need support or advice. Veteran Social is not a replacement for trained medical professionals, but it offers a network of people who understand what each other has been through.
We believe that communication is key, especially for those in the military and their families. Many in our community have faced challenges that others are still navigating, and sharing experiences can help.
Join us for our next Coffee Catch this Sunday, the 31st May, at 830 am at the Greenbank RSL Sub-Branch (this is not the Greenbank Services Club; it is situated behind the building). We’ll be serving FREE bacon and eggs along with coffee or juice. Feel free to invite a friend if you are new. This event is open to all serving and Ex-Service Defence personnel, as well as partners. It is a great way to connect with others.
