You can tell the kids they can come and play at Oleander Park this time next week! 🥳

The brand new play area is just about ready and doesn't it look awesome?!

The fencing will be coming down Thursday afternoon, ahead of a weekend of fun 🌞 Come along and check out the shaded new playground, bike riding track, multi-use half court, swings, sand play and shelters.

Unfortunately due to wet weather, the new accessible carpark located off Junjaree Street is not yet complete but we hope to see it completed by late July - if the weather holds out!

Tag someone to make a play date at Oleander Park, located at Oleander Avenue, Kawungan 🌳

Soon Scrub Hill Road will look very different - it's getting a makeover! 👏👏👏

This project will rebuild over 800 metres of road in Dundowran, including a new roundabout connecting Augustus Boulevard, footpaths, cycle lanes, crossings, drainage and lighting.

This upgrade will support new housing developments and improve daily travel for residents, motorists, and families heading to Yarrilee State School and Xavier Catholic College, 🙌 The completed roundabout will provide a much-need connection to the Sage and Augustus/Oasis estates.

⚠️ Scrub Hill Road between Urraween Road and south of Empire Circuit will be closed until March 2027. Access to Empire Circuit and nearby homes will remain open, but school commuters may need to plan alternative routes. Thank you for your patience while crews complete this important work.

This upgrade is proudly funded by the Queensland Government through the Residential Activation Fund.

We can’t wait to see the new Scrub Hill Road in action! 🌞

📢 Fraser Coast Budget 2026/27

Council today adopted its 2026/2027 Budget with a focus on building capacity to support the community now and into the future.

This budget is about delivering essential services. We're also making sure we’re ready for growth, investing in roads, water, sewerage and community facilities to maintain the lifestyle we all love and value.

This year's budget includes investment in:
🚗 $206 million for roads, bridges, footpaths and drainage
💧 $152 million for water, waste and sewerage
⛵ $40 million for economic development, tourism and major projects
🌳 $38 million for parks, pools and playgrounds
🎨 $17 million for arts and cultural facilities

Key capital works projects in this budget:
✔️ The Fraser Coast Water Grid
✔️ The Pulgul Creek Sewage Treatment Plant upgrade
✔️ The Hervey Bay Airport terminal upgrade
✔️ City Hall in Maryborough redevelopment works

The general rates revenue increase, excluding growth from new properties, is 5.08%. Most households will see a $3.62 - $7.49 per week increase to their total rate bill, including general rates, levies and utility charges.

📢 A major milestone for Maryborough City Hall.

We are pleased to share that Council will commit $10 million over the next two years to refurbish this iconic heritage building, with detailed design and construction works now funded and scheduled to begin.

This will return City Hall as a central service hub for the Maryborough community.

The project will preserve the building's character, improve accessibility, modernise Council services and bring more than 50 staff back into the CBD.

It's a significant investment in both Maryborough's history and its future.

FIRST LOOK ⭐ Hervey Bay Airport is set for its biggest upgrade in more than 20 years.

Council is investing $18 million to transform the terminal and passenger experience following a record-breaking year that saw more than 240,000 passengers travel through the airport - the highest number in its history and more than 23% above pre-COVID levels.

✔️ A larger departure lounge with more than 200 additional seats.
✔️ Upgraded security screening
✔️ Changing Places facility to improve accessibility
✔️ A refreshed terminal entrance with new awnings, improved pedestrian access, landscaping and drainage improvements

The airport has climbed 19 places to become Australia's 24th busiest regional airport, and this investment will help ensure it can continue to meet growing demand into the future.

✈️ The airport will remain fully operational during the works. Construction will be delivered in two stages, with the first exterior works expected to start in the coming months.

You'll soon notice crews improving roads, drainage and water services around Shelly Beach in Urangan.

The works around Hockley Lane will support local residents and get the area ready for 70 new apartments in a well-connected neighbourhood close to shops, schools and other services.

Proudly funded by the Queensland Government through the Residential Activation Fund, this project shows how investing in infrastructure supports housing while benefiting the broader community.

Council will deliver the works in stages starting this week:
💧 Water main replacement
🛣 Road reconstruction, drainage works and a new road pavement between Margaret Street and Cypress Street
🚧 Road reconstruction of Hockley Lane to the Esplanade

These upgrades will make everyday services better and prepare the area for future growth.
