We are a small, local group of like-minded people meeting monthly to discuss and action social justice issues affecting our wider community and global community. We usually meet on the final Sunday of the month at 12noon - and share lunch together. This can change with different events over the year so please let us know if you are interested via email and we would welcome you to join with us and we can keep you updated on any changes.

A few months ago I received this map in the post from Baptist World Aid. I looked at it and stuck it on my fridge. Since that time I have looked at it many times. I have a gained an awareness of countries throughout the world in hunger crisis. I have gained an awareness of the level of hunger and numbers of people who are affected. And with this map stuck on my fridge I have also gained an acute awareness of the number of times a day I open my fridge and reach in for food. My fridge is never ever empty, even in those those moments before we head out to the shops or for takeaway and use the expression ‘there’s nothing to eat in the fridge’. Food is always close at hand. I am so grateful that I do not go hungry. It can be hard to imagine a life where this basic need is not met but I encourage you to come on this journey with us. Please stay tuned to our Fashion for Famine page for more updates, reflections and info on the hunger crisis that is impacting so many in our world…

Today on National Sorry Day, we remember and lament the injustice of the Stolen Generations. We pray for the children and families of the Stolen Generations and the New Stolen Generation and commit to deep listening and truth-telling.

Today may we reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for Aboriginal peoples and for justice in these lands now called Australia.

National Sorry Day came from one of the recommendations from the Bringing them Home Report released in 1997. Would you take time today to read the experiences of members of the Stolen Generations in the Bringing Them Home Report: https://humanrights.gov.au/our-work/bringing-them-home-report-1997

As we reflect on the past injustices against Aboriginal children, may we be compelled to stand against injustices facing our children today. Take action to by writing a letter to your State/Territory Premier and Attorney General, template letter here: www.commongrace.org.au/letter_raisetheage

Today is National Close the Gap Day.
A reminder that the inequalities in areas such as health, education and employment continue to be a significant injustice facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Last week, ABC’s Four Corners highlighted the devastating reality of Rheumatic Heart Disease on Aboriginal communities, particularly for young people. Despite this being a preventable disease, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have the world’s highest rates of Rheumatic Heart Disease.

This National Close the Gap Day, will you learn, pray and act to ?
