The Animal Justice Party has been formed as a response to growing public concern about the neglect of animals and animal protection issues by political parties. It will provide a focal point for voters frustrated by the lack of political action and who feel strongly that much more needs to be done through our parliamentary systems to assist the wellbeing of animals. There is a need for laws and pr

ocesses which recognise animals’ needs and capabilities and which protect their interests, whether they are domestic, farmed or wild. The Animal Justice Party will also ensure such laws and processes are properly enforced and implemented to achieve genuine justice for animals. This page authorised by M. It’s time to bust the myths about kangaroos. On World Kangaroo Day, we stand up for one of Australia’s most misunderstood and mistreated animals — the kangaroo.

These gentle, social beings are a vital part of our ecosystems. They’ve lived in harmony with this land for millions of years shaping grasslands, helping native plants regenerate, and symbolising the spirit of Australia itself.

Yet today, they face relentless persecution.

Every night across Australia, kangaroos are shot in the dark and it is often mothers with joeys in their pouches or at their sides.

Their deaths are justified by myths: that they’re pests, overpopulated, or a threat to farmland. But the truth is clear kangaroos are not the problem.

They are the victims of habitat loss, urban sprawl, and an industry that profits from their suffering.

The Animal Justice Party is working tirelessly to change this.

We’re fighting to end the commercial slaughter of kangaroos, pushing for stronger wildlife protection laws, and promoting ethical, wildlife-friendly policies that respect the rights of native animals.

Our vision is one of true coexistence where kangaroos can live freely, safely, and without fear on the land that has always been their home.

This World Kangaroo Day, we invite you to stand with us.

Speak the truth. Share the facts. Challenge the myths.

Take action today by signing our petition to end kangaroo cruelty: https://nsw.animaljusticeparty.org/kangaroocruelty

Together, we can end the cruelty and protect our roos — forever. 🦘

This Friday, 24th October, join fellow kangaroo carers, wildlife lovers and Animal Justice Party supporters for a Kangaroo-Inspired Piano Concert at the Wentworth Falls School of Arts (6:30pm – 9:00pm).

Organised by passionate kangaroo carers from the Blue Mountains and Central West, this special evening celebrates the beauty and magnificence of kangaroos through the power of music.

🎵 Anne, an accomplished pianist and devoted kangaroo carer, has created a breathtaking performance that pairs her music with stunning images and videos of kangaroos, joeys, and the people who rescue and care for them. Each piece carries its own theme — a tribute to the resilience, love, and spirit of these iconic animals.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Steve Garlick and Rosemary Austin of Possumwood Wildlife Recovery & Research Hospital, who have dedicated more than 23 years to rescuing and treating thousands of kangaroos.

Many will remember Steve Garlick as the founder of the Animal Justice Party, born from his fight to end the cruel slaughter of kangaroos in 2008. Today, Steve continues this vital work, running Possumwood full-time and self-funded.

📍 Venue: Wentworth Falls School of Arts (just 100m from the train station)

Vale Christine Townend OAM dedicated her life to giving a voice to animals and in doing so, she helped to awaken compassion across Australia and far beyond.

Nearly fifty years ago, Christine founded Animal Liberation, planting the seed for what would become an entire movement for animal rights in this country.

She went on to co-found Animals Australia, exposing the cruelties of factory farming, mulesing and live export and speaking with courage where others turned away.

With her beloved husband Jeremy, she created sanctuaries in India, safe places where animals could heal and where kindness guided every action.

She lived with humility, side by side with the people and animals she served.

Christine also stood with the Animal Justice Party, sharing her wisdom and her strength with those carrying her mission forward today. She reminded us all that real peace will never be possible until we stop waging war against the animals with whom we share this earth.

She was an active part of our Animal Justice Party Macquarie and Blue Mountains Regional Group, where she volunteered during elections and was a wonderful friend to our candidate Greg Keightley.

Her commitment and encouragement left a lasting mark on the group and on everyone who worked alongside her.
Her legacy is one of extraordinary courage and compassion. It is now up to each of us to carry her work forward, with the same determination and the same unshakeable belief that a better world is possible.

Thank you Christine, for dedicating your life to those who you knew needed us most.

We send our sincere sympathy to Christine's family and friends. Her family has asked that anyone wishing to pay tribute to please send a donation to her charity Working for Animals: www.workingforanimals.org.au

VOTE 1 FOR EMMA KERIN, THE ANIMAL JUSTICE CANDIDATE FOR THE SENATE TO END LIVE EXPORT AND FIGHT FOR BETTER LEGAL PROTECTIONS FOR ANIMALS

VOTE 1 IN MACQUARIE FOR CANDIDATES WHO OPPOSE LIVE EXPORT

Although the AJP is not running a House of Representatives candidate in Macquarie you can still support us by voting 1 for Emma Kerin and the AJP in the Senate.

Although Labor has committed to ending live sheep export we need Emma in the Senate to hold Labor to its promise, as well as implement publicly funded vet care - otherwise known as Veticare.

The seat of Macquarie is currently contested by the sitting member, the Hon Susan Templeman MP, the Greens and then an assortment of Liberals and right wing minor parties.

According to the website ‘They Vote For You’, Susan Templeman has ‘Voted Almost Always’ against live export. As a member of the only party which could realistically form government and bring about a live sheep export ban, we ask that you consider ranking her highly when you vote.

We also note the Greens have a longstanding opposition to live export and are running a candidate in Macquarie.

Vote wisely on 3 May 2025 and help protect animals.

Authorised by G.Taylor, Animal Justice Party. 55/20-50 Meagher Street, Chippendale NSW, 2008.

Former Outdoor Recreation Party (Stop the Greens) candidate Joaquim De Lima is currently running as the Libertarian candidate in Macquarie.

His Libertarian Party candidate profile indicates he is a hunter. For this reason alone (and because he is preferencing the Liberals) you should place him last on your ballot even if you agree with any other Libertarian Party policy.

On this solemn day we honour those Australian servicemen and servicewomen who paid the ultimate price in war to protect us and others from brutal adversaries.

We also remember those terrified animals who were forced into wars they could not comprehend, and who suffered immensely as a result.

Today, we pause to honour the lives lost and impacted by war, human and non-human alike.

Animals have long been used in war, not by choice, but by circumstance. Pigeons, dogs, donkeys, horses and cats were taken into dangerous battlefields. They did not enlist. They didn’t understand borders or battles. But they were there, offering comfort, carrying messages, detecting danger and sometimes even saving lives.

One kitten, named Aircrew, lived at a Royal Australian Air Force training base during WWII. She was taken to war against her will. Like so many others, she brought comfort to frightened soldiers and helped control the spread of disease by keeping rats at bay.

She was just one. An unknown number of cats and kittens were used during wartime. They were called “war cats.” Most didn’t make it out.

On this day of reflection, we remember them too.

They were not heroes by choice but victims of circumstance, caught in human conflict. They, too, deserve our compassion, recognition and remembrance.

Lest we forget, all who suffered.

If elected, Animal Justice Party candidate for the Senate, Emma Kerin will fight for federal protections for kangaroo and help end the barbaric commercial kangaroo industry.

Authorised by G.Taylor, Animal Justice Party. 55/20-50 Meagher Street, Chippendale NSW, 2008.

Every night, under the cover of darkness, kangaroos are hunted down - terrorised, maimed and slaughtered for profit. Joeys ripped from their dead mothers’ pouches are bludgeoned to death or left to starve, cold and alone, crying for mums who will never come.

Kangaroos are victims of the largest land-based wildlife slaughter on the planet. All so companies can profit from their flesh and skin.

This cruelty is sanctioned by our own government — signed off at the federal level, allowing the commercial slaughter and export of kangaroo body parts to continue year after year.

Vote 1 Animal Justice Party - to shut down this blood-soaked industry, stand against cruelty and stop the slaughter.

EXPANSION OF MOOLARBEN COAL MINE TO FURTHER THREATEN NATIVE HABITAT

Moolarben coal mine is one of three mines stretching over 300 square kilometres around the Mudgee area.

The mine proposes an expansion of 675 ha to the Munghorn Gap Nature Reserve, clearing 113 ha of habitat, all of which is koala habit, including one area in the centre of one of the proposed pits. The colony is a breeding colony and likely to be a source population - one supplying surrounding areas.

The nature reserve is regarded as resilient to bushfire and a refuge for animals during drought. The extension would put the Moolarben Creek at risk.

Yancoal itself admits that the mine expansion is “likely to affect habitat that has the potential to be critical to the survival of the species.”

All to produce another 30 million tonnes of climate destroying export coal.

Also present is Regent Honeyeater habitat. There are fewer than 300 Regent Honeyeaters left in the wild.

Mudgee Environment Group, which is opposed to the mine expansion says the company’s fauna survey has been inadequate in that it did not consider the presence or absence of the giant burrowing frog and the red-crowned toddler, the eastern pygmy possum and the brush-tailed rock wallaby.

With both Labor and Liberal governments supporting the expansion of coal mines around Australia, only the Animal Justice Party can be trusted to protect native animals and their habitat from destruction.

On 3 May vote 1 for Emma Kerin and the Animal Justice Party in the Senate.

THE ANIMAL JUSTICE PARTY IS HERE TO STAY.

Congratulations to Amanda Dorn who has just been announced as winning a seat in the WA Upper House.

Just as we need Amanda in WA, we need Emma Kerin in the Senate to help bring in federal laws to protect animals.

On 3 May 2025 vote 1 for Emma Kerin in the Senate.

Authorised by G.Taylor, Animal Justice Party. 55/20-50 Meagher Street, Chippendale NSW, 2008.

MEMBER FOR LINDSAY THE HON MELISSA MCINTOSH CONSISTENTLY VOTED IN FAVOUR OF LIVE EXPORT

According to the website ‘They Vote For You’, the Liberal member for Lindsay has “voted consistently” for live animal export.

Yet another reason why animals can’t afford to see the return of a Coalition government.

If you, or anyone you know is voting in Lindsay make sure they vote 1 for the Animal Justice Party candidate for Lindsay, Vanessa Blazi and vote 1 for Emma Kerin in the Senate.

Authorised by G.Taylor, Animal Justice Party. 55/20-50 Meagher Street, Chippendale NSW, 2008.
