Who we are:
Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) is made up of professional staff and dedicated volunteers from all ages and backgrounds. Their common link is a desire to work as part of a team that gives back to the community they live in. More than 5,500 volunteers from all ages, professions and backgrounds serve in both operational and administrative roles across the state. Every one of our v

olunteers receives comprehensive training to enable them to respond to emergencies. From road rescue and flood response to community events and logistics, volunteers continually develop and update their skills through the various courses and training programs provided by SES. SES volunteers are supported by approximately 200 full-time staff based in the organisation’s regional headquarters and offices around Victoria, and at Victorian Headquarters in Sturt Street, Southbank. The roles and responsibilities of SES staff members are backed up by a wealth of knowledge and experience in emergency management, education and response.

Working as One

Last night, five of our VICSES Hamilton members were honing their Road Crash Rescue (RCR) skills, working alongside our colleagues from the Yulecart Rural Fire Brigade.

These joint agency sessions are crucial for practising teamwork and ensuring we can work seamlessly together to keep our community safe.

Our dedicated volunteers are committed to learning and developing their skills to provide the best possible response for our community.

A huge thank you to the members of the Yulecart Rural Fire Brigade for inviting our Road Crash Rescue (RCR) team out for a joint training session this evening.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our volunteers to demonstrate some of our specialist rescue tools and techniques.
More importantly, it was a valuable session focused on strengthening our teamwork for when we respond to incidents together.
Discussions centred on what initial actions can be taken in the critical minutes before a specialist VICSES RCR unit arrives on scene.
This shared knowledge and coordinated approach ensures we can work together as effectively as possible to achieve the best outcomes.
We're proud to work alongside our fellow emergency service volunteers.

⚠️ SAFETY ON OUR ROADS ⚠️

Our volunteers were on the road earlier, responding to a request for assistance for a tree down in the Grassdale area.

A crew of 3 dedicated members responded in one of our vehicles, working quickly to clear the debris and make the road safe for all travellers.

Great work by the team!

This incident serves as a timely reminder for all drivers: when you see stationary emergency vehicles with flashing blue or red lights, you must slow down to 40km/h when passing.

This simple act helps keep our volunteers and other emergency service personnel safe while they work.

Thank you for helping us keep our community safe, both on and off the road.

Always Training, Always Ready!

Over the next two days, dedicated volunteers from the SES Hamilton Unit and other units from the SES Barwon South West Regional Unit will be undertaking a specialised 4x4 driving course.

This training ensures our members have the advanced skills needed to safely navigate challenging terrain and off-road tracks, allowing us to reach properties and provide assistance in even the most difficult-to-access areas of our region.

Our members regularly give up their weekends to learn and refine their skills, making sure they are always prepared to help build safer communities, together.

Wednesday, 20th May, is a very important day for us. It’s Wear Orange Wednesday, or WOW Day! 🧡

WOW Day is the national day of thanks for the thousands of dedicated State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers across Australia who serve their communities 24/7.

Here in Hamilton, we want to send a massive thank you to our incredible team of volunteers.
They are the ones who leave their dinner tables, get out of bed in the middle of the night, and put their lives on hold to respond when our community needs them most. Whether it's a storm-damaged roof, a fallen tree blocking a road, or assisting in a major flood event, they are always there to help.

Their dedication to training, maintaining equipment, and responding to calls makes our community a safer place.

How can you show your support this Wednesday?

✅ WEAR ORANGE: Dig out your brightest orange shirt, beanie, or scarf and wear it with pride.

Felix is missing.
The 14-year-old was last seen in Hamilton on Wednesday 22 April.
It is unknown what Felix was last seen wearing but Felix is Caucasian in appearance, approximately 150-160cms tall, medium build with blonde/ brown shoulder length hair.
Police and family have concerns for Felix’s welfare due to their age and a medical condition.
Anyone with information on Felix’s whereabouts is urged to contact Hamilton Police Station on (03) 5551 9100.

We honour their courage, their endurance, and their commitment to one another.

Their legacy of service continues to inspire us all.
