🚶‍♂️A Safe Start to the School Day in Halls Gap 👟🚸

Senior Constable Brown and First Constable Mitchell had a great time joining students and staff from Halls Gap Primary School for this year’s Walk Safely to School Day.

The group enjoyed a relaxed walk together, finishing with a delicious breakfast at the school.

A timely reminder for all motorists - when driving near schools, please observe school zone speed limits, stay alert for children, and drive safely.

Thank you for having us, Halls Gap Primary School!

What a wonderful afternoon we had visiting WAMA Foundation! ☀️🍄

Our visit began with a beautiful picnic lunch on the verandah, soaking up the sunshine while taking in the stunning gardens and surrounds. It was the perfect way to start an afternoon full of learning, curiosity and connection.

Students then rotated through a range of incredible activities organised by the extremely talented and knowledgeable Education Officer, Nicole.
Activities included:
-A guided walk through the gardens where students spotted special plant species and learnt about the importance of the gardens and conservation.
-An AMAZING gallery tour led by Nicole, where students discovered fascinating facts all about fungi. Students were so engaged, with many exclaiming that their “brains exploded” and that they couldn’t wait to share all of their new knowledge with their families!
-A fungi art colouring activity in the multipurpose room, where students were inspired to continue observing and learning about the colours and shading techniques found in fungi.

We are so grateful to WAMA Foundation for allowing us the opportunity to form this wonderful connection and partnership. A huge thank you to Nicole for sharing her passion, enthusiasm and incredible knowledge with both our students and staff.

All staff and students at HGPS were absolutely amazed by the enthusiasm Nicole brought to every activity and conversation, and how lucky we are to have such an incredible learning opportunity right down the road from us.

We are so excited to continue this connection and provide our students with more opportunities to learn from the amazing experiences WAMA shares with us.

What an incredible day at the 2026 Moyston and District School Sports Association Athletics Sports!

Halls Gap Primary School was proud to compete against Concongella Primary School, Great Western Primary School, Moyston Primary School and Pomonal Primary School in a fantastic day of athletics, teamwork and school spirit.

Our students represented our school with outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day, cheering each other on, encouraging competitors, trying their personal best, showing resilience, and celebrating the success of others. We could not be prouder of the way they conducted themselves both on and off the track.

A huge congratulations to our Age Champions:
🥇 Evie S
🥇 Finlay
🥇 Tommy B

To top off an amazing day, our school proudly brought home all three major trophies:
🏆 Individual Events Champion School Winner
🏆 Team Sports Winner
🏆 Marching Winner

What an achievement by all students and staff involved. A day full of pride, effort and success for Halls Gap Primary School! 💙💛

Yesterday we held a special ANZAC Day ceremony at the Halls Gap Memorial Gates to honour and remember the bravery, sacrifice and service of our ANZACs. In the lead up to the day, students had been learning about the significance of ANZAC Day and reflecting on the ANZAC spirit of courage, mateship, sacrifice and resilience. Through classroom discussions and activities, students developed a deeper understanding of the importance of remembering those who served our country and the values that continue to inspire Australians today.

Our student leaders showed outstanding leadership as they respectfully led the ceremony with confidence and pride. All students worked together to create four beautiful wreaths, demonstrating teamwork, creativity and respect. The wreaths were then placed at various services attended by our student leaders throughout today.

We were so proud of the way our students represented our school community and reflected the spirit of remembrance.

Lest we forget.

Today, we were incredibly proud of our Halls Gap Primary School students.

This morning, one of our students noticed a large amount of rubbish scattered along Stoney Creek near the shops, and was genuinely concerned that local wildlife could be harmed. Without hesitation, our students stepped in to help.

With care, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility, students worked hard to clean up our beautiful town… and they did so without a single complaint.

Their actions were a wonderful reflection of the values we aim to build in our students each day: kindness, community spirit, initiative, and care for the environment.

We are so proud of the way our students look beyond themselves, take action when something isn’t right, and show such respect for the place we are lucky enough to call home.

What a fantastic example of student leadership and citizenship.

Please help keep our town tidy!
