Tonight, Halls Gap CFA had some surprise visitors from Mclaren Vale SA Country Fire Service
who were holidaying in the region.
A tour of the engine bay and trucks ensued along with discussion about the experiences and challenges of our respective brigades.
Thanks to Simon, Penny, Simon and Kerry for popping in; proving again that despite different uniforms and truck colours, we have much more in common than not.
We then commenced some drills to refresh our skills and
knowledge for the coming fire season.

Our weekly training sessions are always different, as we're starting on our pre-season training programme we were chuffed to be able to join our colleagues from Stawell Fire Brigade and Great Western Fire Brigade last week at North Park in Stawell for an evening on the mobile gas POD, a training appliance that allows firefighters to simulate a number of real fire scenarios, practice different hose techniques and generally keep our fire fighting skills as sharp as can be.

It's a lot of fun too and a great way to stay in touch with other brigades who we work alongside during the fire season.
