This ANZAC Day, we remember those who served overseas, as well as those who stood ready to defend our state at home.

During World War II, local men served in the Volunteer Defence Corps, also known as the Morphett Vale Home Guard, as part of the 4th Battalion (SA). They were everyday Australians who trained, prepared, and stood ready to protect their community during uncertain times.

When the war ended, their service didn’t.

Many of these same men went on to form the Morphett Vale Fire Fighting Association, which would later become the Morphett Vale Emergency Fire Service, and then the Morphett Vale Country Fire Service Brigade.

Every ANZAC Day, our volunteers proudly attend the Morphett Vale Dawn Service to pay our respects to all who have served our Country and honour those who came before us.

Lest We Forget.

🚒 A Busy Month for Morphett Vale CFS Volunteers 🚒

It’s been another action-packed month for our brigade, with our volunteers responding to a wide range of incidents and continuing to build their skills through realistic training.

From responding to grass fires and working in challenging terrain, to structural firefighting, our crews have been out there doing what they do best — protecting the community and supporting each other.

Training has also been in full swing, with firefighters honing their techniques in hose-work, breathing apparatus operations, and interior fire attack. These scenarios ensure our members are prepared for whatever comes their way.

Every callout and every training session adds to the experience, capability, and teamwork that makes our brigade strong.

👏 A huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers who give their time, day and night, to keep our community safe.

💛 Supporting Those Who Support Us 💛

At the Morphett Vale CFS Brigade, we’re incredibly lucky to have the backing of such a generous and community-minded group of local businesses.

Every Monday night, our members are treated to a spread of delicious baked goods from the Bakehouse On Collins. For many years now, they’ve been providing end-of-day bakery items that are always a welcome boost during training nights.

We’ve also recently received a fantastic donation from IRONMAN 4X4 Lonsdale who supplied a brand-new fridge for our 34P appliance — a big upgrade that will make a real difference on the fireground.

Last night, our members were surprised with a generous donation of pizzas from Caffe Primo Morphett Vale following our meeting. It was unexpected, hugely appreciated, and definitely well enjoyed by all! 🍕

We’d also like to recognise the incredible work of the CFS Foundation along with Sammie Binns from Limitless Quality Solutions, who coordinated with local businesses to provide hampers full of donated goods to brigades involved in the Deep Creek Fire earlier this year.

👏 Great work to Sammie and the team, and a big thank you to all the businesses who contributed to this project.

Your support means the world to our volunteers and helps keep us going — both on and off the fireground.

We’re excited to welcome our new Quick Response Vehicle (QRV) to the Morphett Vale CFS Brigade!

This new appliance replaces our long-serving Holden Rodeo and delivers a significant upgrade in capability and, most importantly, crew safety.

The QRV is equipped with advanced protection systems, including:
🔥 Cabin deluge system
🔥 In-cab breathing system
🔥 Radiant heat curtains protecting front and side windows

These features provide critical protection in high-risk environments, helping keep our volunteers safer while they protect the community.

Over the coming months, our volunteers will be out and about across the local area undertaking driver training and familiarisation with the new QRV. If you see us around, give us a wave 👋

A fantastic addition to the brigade and a big step forward for operational capability 👏

🔥 Region One Insignia Coin Recipient 🔥

Congratulations to David Dyer from our brigade on last night being presented with the Region One Insignia Coin, in recognition of the gallantry he demonstrated by engaging in a difficult but important conversations.

As noted by the Region One Volunteer Support Officer, Nicoli Ackland
"Many simple issues can escalate when people find it difficult to talk openly about their concerns. Dave showed courage by respectfully raising the issue directly with the person involved, helping to strengthen the relationship and resolve the concern in a positive way"

Dave is a very committed and long time member of our brigade, and this is another great example of our members upholding the values we strive for within the brigade.

🔥 Celebrating a Strong Partnership 🔥

The Morphett Vale Country Fire Service brigade is proud to acknowledge the partnership between the CFS Foundation and ElectraNet.

Through the generous support of this partnership, our brigade has been provided a MultiRAE multigas detector, a vital piece of equipment used for atmospheric monitoring at incidents.

This device allows our firefighters to detect and measure hazardous gases in the environment, significantly enhancing crew safety at structure fires and other emergency situations where air quality may be compromised.

Having access to this technology means:
✅ Improved situational awareness
✅ Early detection of dangerous atmospheres
✅ Increased safety for our firefighters and the community

We are incredibly grateful to the CFS Foundation and ElectraNet for their continued commitment to supporting volunteer brigades like ours. Partnerships like this directly strengthen our operational capability and help us keep the surrounding community safe.

Thank you for backing your local volunteers. 👏🔥

🔥 Overnight Fire – Macclesfield 🔥

While today has brought welcome rain to parts of the state, overnight was a very different story.

Morphett Vale CFS volunteers were deployed as part of a Mawson Group Strike Team to a grass and scrub fire at Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills. Working alongside firefighters from the Seaford Country Fire Service, Clarendon CFS and Kangarilla Country Fire Service in steep terrain and challenging conditions, crews established a hose line nearly 500 metres long to contain the fire.

The response included multiple CFS brigades, supported by both fixed-wing and rotary aircraft, which were critical in assisting ground crews.

A strong team effort in tough conditions – well done to everyone involved.

While attending the Deep Creek fire today, our crews faced more than just strong winds, heavy smoke and intense fire conditions — they also encountered this impressive fire devil.

It’s been a busy operational period for the Morphett Vale Brigade over the last few weeks, and now our volunteers are again back at it with repeated deployments to the Deep Creek fire.

With Wednesday declared a Total Fire Ban day for the Mount Lofty Ranges, our firefighters will once again be on standby and ready to respond if needed.

A quick responses to a grass fire on Kimbley road at Onkaparinga Hills on Sunday afternoon contained the fire to two hectares. CFS and MFS crews, assisted by aircraft prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring properties. Crews have now departed the fire but will re-attend on Monday morning to ensure the area is safe.
Other Firefighters from our station are currently assisting with a major fire burning near Nangkita on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
We also spent several hours at the Noarlunga MFS Fire Station today - covering their area whilst they responded to a large industrial fire, and finally we hosted a Strike Team from Region Two at our station tonight.
Certainly a busy afternoon.
