Yesterday, Gympie welcomed 34 new Australian citizens from 16 different countries at a Citizenship Ceremony.

One new citizen shared, "I'm grateful to be in a country that feels safe. I've travelled to many countries, and Australia is the only country I haven't wanted to leave. We honour, we encourage, and we inspire everyone."

Council extends its congratulations to all new citizens and wishes them every success as they begin this exciting new chapter as Australians.

Cooloola Coast residents, you're invited to a free community workshop focused on managing pest animals and protecting our local environment ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿพ

With a growing Indian myna bird population and recent wild dog sightings near residential areas, this workshop will provide practical information on identifying and managing Indian myna birds, as well as understanding wild dog and dingo behaviour and how to stay safe.

๐Ÿ“ Tin Can Bay RSL and Hall, 45 Gympie Road, Tin Can Bay (during the Tin Can Bay RSL Markets)

Managing pest animals is a shared responsibility, and this workshop is part of Council's $140,000 investment this financial year towards education, monitoring and pest management programs across the Gympie Region.

Did you know our Customer Contact Centre dealt with more than 67,800 individual enquiries in 2025 โ˜Ž๏ธ

Queries relating to waste, rates, and compliance were the most common themes last year, with phone calls being the most common way residents connected with the team.

Our Customer Contact Centre is the front door into Council, providing accurate, consistent advice and a place for residents to discuss a broad range of Council issues.

Councilโ€™s Customer Contact Centre is available for general enquiries via 1300 307 800 from 8:30am to 4:45pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). An after-hours service is also provided for emergencies only.

Residents can lodge requests, make a payment, or register their dog online via www.gympie.qld.gov.au or visit in person at the Town Hall or Kilkivan Offices. The Planning and Development Office at Channon Street is also available for all Planning and Development-related enquiries.

Work has begun on a major upgrade to the Jones Hill Water Treatment Plant, an important step in supporting safe and reliable drinking water for Gympie and surrounding communities ๐Ÿšฐ

These works involve the replacement of the plantโ€™s sedimentation tank and marks the first project to be delivered under Council's new Water Alliance. This forms part of a broader program to renew ageing infrastructure to continue to support our growing region for years to come ๐Ÿ‘

Learn more about the project here: gympie.qld.gov.au/JonesHillSedimentTank

This project is funded with the support of the Queensland Government in association with Gympie Regional Council.

The Goomeri Pumpkin Festival has done it again ๐ŸŽƒ

As the festival celebrated its 30th year, it was wonderful to see so many people come together and join in the festivities.

A huge congratulations to the organisers, volunteers, local businesses and community members who helped make the event such a success, and thank you to everyone who attended and joined in the fun.

Council was proud to sponsor the event, which brought people together, supported local businesses and showcased the unique character of our region to visitors from near and far.

The festival team has now shared their photo gallery. Take a look and relive the fun ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡

Our Disaster Management, Libraries, and Community Development teams attended the Doing It Tough event today.

It was an excellent opportunity to share valuable information and connect with community members, highlighting how Council can support and assist them.

The event was made possible through the support of a $5,000 grant from Council's Community Grants Program.

The program provides funding to not-for-profit community organisations, helping them deliver valuable initiatives that strengthen community wellbeing and support residents across the region ๐Ÿค
