What a Wonderful Book Week!

What a wonderful Book Week we have had at One Mile! It was fantastic to see our students embrace “Symphony of Stories” with so much enthusiasm, creativity and excitement.

Our Book Week Scavenger Hunt was a huge hit. It was great fun watching students running up to staff around the school, asking them to sing their song and trying to work out the musical and book it came from! A big thank you to Gympie Library for visiting our school and sharing some wonderful stories with our students. We also loved having our guest readers in the library, including Mrs Joy from our office team and Mr Mac, our groundsman. We had so many students dress up, and it was wonderful to see the incredible creativity and effort that went into their costumes.
Our staff performance of The Very Noisy Bear, with a few special One Mile changes, was an absolute hit! There were plenty of laughs from our audience and the staff had just as much fun performing it.
Most importantly, it was wonderful to see students reading everywhere – sharing books with buddy classes, reading together and enjoying books before school. What a fantastic way to celebrate our love of reading!
Thank you to our students, staff, families and special guests for making Book Week 2026 such a memorable week. What a great celebration of books, stories and reading!

It's been such fun with Book Week this week! We have been buddy reading, had fun scavenger hunts and the Gympie Library visited us today. Our parade is on tomorrow morning. We can't wait to see your outfits!!
