Today the 21st February 2024 The shooting 'Legend' of Australia did the wrong thing, he died and left us. The Australian shooting scene is a smaller place without him. For over 70 years he has been writing articles and books with which everyone that has read his work is beneficiary. I wish to convey all our condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed and the monthly shooting magazines will have a 5 page hole within them for the foreseeable future. I will be looking for his ghost writer. On arriving in Australia in 1967 I read an article written by Nick in Australian Outdoors, I was a fan and became friends with him 20 years after that. He has been writing these shooting, hunting articles for 70 years and we will never see his like again. Nick was devoted to the individualist sport of shooting. He will be remembered by millions of hunters and shooters from all parts of the earth. Nick was an international advocate for Australia' hunters and shooters with publishers and firearm manufactures. Due to his writing he inspired thousands of young shooters to join our fraternity, to share in the adventure of outdoor hunting, ad encouraging them to embark on their own odyssey.
Nick was a Gentleman in all senses of the word, he was kind, courteous, considerate and a good friend. He gave a lot of himself to everyone he met, or anyone who asked his advice. I will miss him and I hope his legacy will live forever in the hearts of Australian shooters. Vale Nick Harvey 1931 to 2024. Ron Owen
