Protect Our Creek!
We try to stay out of politics but this is extremely important and has far-reaching implications…..
Hey everyone in the Amamoor/Gympie community – our precious Amamoor Creek, which supplies drinking water to the township and irrigation for local farms, is under threat from Gympie Regional Council's proposed herbicide spraying to control Olive Hymenachne w**d along its banks.
Local certified organic farmers, including K2 Beef and John Tidy's Organics, are extremely concerned – this could lead to contamination and loss of their organic certifications, devastating their businesses.
For you locals who drink or use the water, there are serious health risks from potential runoff of chemicals like Glyphosate or Haloxyfop (highly toxic to aquatic life). Issues include poor council communication, evasive responses to queries, unclear testing and impacts on ecosystems and livestock.
This isn't just about w**ds – it's about safe water, healthy food and our environment!
We need transparency and safer alternatives.
Take action NOW: Email the CEO, Mayor and Councillors to demand a halt to spraying, full details and non-chemical options. Copy all for maximum impact!
