The CFS Foundation has been helping deliver donated hampers made possible through the generosity of local SA businesses and an initiative driven by Sammie from Limitless Quality Solutions.

👨‍🚒But sometimes we all need a little help from our friends..
Thank you, Brock, for helping deliver these to your local Brigade!

It’s always great to see CFS staff who also volunteer in their local communities🚒

We hope the Gumeracha Country Fire Service enjoyed their well-earned hampers and we recognise their ongoing dedication and commitment to the community ❤

"Marge, the rains are here!"

The rains are here, and things are greening up, but the Fire Danger Season still continues until the 30th of April.

Burning restrictions are still in place until the end of the month.

To see what you can and can't do relating to fires and burning, follow the link below.

Total Fire Ban for Mount Lofty Ranges tomorrow, Tuesday 31st March 2026.
30/03/2026

Total Fire Ban for Mount Lofty Ranges tomorrow, Tuesday 31st March 2026.

TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for Tuesday 31 March 2026 in the following Fire Ban Districts:

Mount Lofty Ranges - Extreme

Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted.

The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow.

The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan.

Fire Danger Ratings
Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire.

What should you do
If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option.

In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions.

Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight.

Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions

Will we get significant rain in our area? That's the million dollar question.

This weather system is unpredictable and erratic.

Should you have a flood emergency (significant water rising and threatening to enter you property). Call the SES on 132 500. Resources will be dispatched to assist you.

If you feel you would like to prepare and protect, for example the main entrance to your dwelling, SES provided sandbag kits are available from the Gumeracha CFS station. Please only take what you need, so there is enough to go around. Unfortunately you will need to provide your own sand. Instructions for sandbagging are next to the kits, or available on the SES website.

Again, Should you have a flood emergency (significant water rising and threatening to enter you property), or water entering your property. Call the SES on 132 500. Resources will be dispatched to assist you.

Safety advice
The State Emergency Service advises:

* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.

* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.

* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

If you have a life threatening emergency please dial '000'.

Are you prepared for possible heavy rainfall over the weekend?

Heavy rainfall continues across South Australia in the north, and is forecast to move south towards Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and Adelaide Metropolitan over the weekend.

Now is a great time to check and clean your gutters where it is safe to do so.
Blocked gutters can cause water to overflow into your roof, walls, and foundations—leading too costly damage and localised flooding around your home.
Clear gutters, downpipes and drains to prevent water damage to your home or property.
✅ Remove leaves and debris
✅ Check downpipes are flowing freely
✅ Do it safely, or ask for help if needed
A little preparation now can prevent big problems later. Let’s all do our part to stay safe and protect our homes.

The Gumeracha CFS group is made up of the Gumeracha, Gumeracha Operations, Hermitage, Paracombe, Kersbrook, Cudlee Creek, Forreston, Birdwood and Mt. Torrens Brigades.

Last week volunteers from all of these brigades travelled down to Deep Creek to assist with a large fire. Our crews spent a combined total of 732 hours on the fire ground and drove over 5250 km.

Not only are there the crews on the frontline, but our Group Officers, also volunteers, spend countless ours orgnaising the teams of volunteers to attend. We are still organising to have vehicles returned and currently have volunteers at Deep Creek asssiting with Incident Mangagement.

All in all a huge effert by all our volunteers and we wish to thank them, and there families for the extra effort to help out our mates down south.

On behalf of the Gumeracha Brigade, we thank you all.
