OH WHAT A NIGHT!
Celebrating 20 years - 6.5.2006-23.5.2026
The Aero Club was transformed into the perfect party venue, with the airfield providing a spectacular backdrop. Guests were also treated to a delicious menu from Mirrool Cottage Yenda, with Robyn Turner and her team—Rayna and Matthew—doing a fantastic job. The food was exceptional and perfectly complemented the evening.
We were honoured to be joined by District Governor Rob Shore, District Governor Elect Judy Ford, District Governor Nominee Gary Davies, Griffith Mayor Doug Curran and Darrelea, along with members of local Rotary clubs—all coming together for a truly memorable celebration.
The occasion marked 20 years of service, fun, and friendships. During the evening, we took time to acknowledge our past and present members, as well as those dear friends no longer with us. Each has played an important role in shaping the club into what it is today.
We proudly recognised Greg Murphy from the Rotary Club of Griffith for his outstanding community spirit and ongoing support of Rotary. His efforts in promoting our activities through WIN TV have been invaluable, and he was presented with a plaque as a token of our appreciation.
Special thanks were also given to Sophie and Yannick, owners of Griffith Quest. Not only do they generously provide their boardroom for our meetings, but they continually support our projects and promote Griffith to national and international guests.
Our founding Charter President, Ros, shared a wonderful and detailed reflection on the club’s 20-year journey—from its beginnings through to today. A slideshow played in the background, showcasing a pictorial journey of the years gone by. The recurring themes were clear: fun, dress-ups, music, and rolling up our sleeves to make a real difference both locally and internationally.
Once the formalities concluded, it was time to truly celebrate. The Rolling Tones—Val, Peter, Brett, Yannick, and Vicki—brought the night to life, with performances that had everyone toe-tapping, clapping, and singing along. The grand crescendo came with Sweet Caroline, lifting the atmosphere to another level.
However, Mayor Doug wasn’t quite ready to finish there! Disappointed that Country Roads by John Denver hadn’t made an appearance, it didn’t take much convincing before the crowd joined in once more—voices raised and spirits high.
I’m sure even those arriving on flights from Sydney could hear the chorus!
A truly unforgettable night celebrating 20 years of making a difference.
