⏰ Change your clock. Check your smoke alarm.

As daylight saving time comes to an end this weekend, we’re reminding all residents across the South Eastern Area to take a few moments to check their smoke alarms.

Working smoke alarms save lives.

With cooler months approaching, many households will begin using heaters, electric blankets and fireplaces. A functioning smoke alarm provides critical early warning, giving you and your family time to respond safely.

✔ Test your smoke alarms
✔ Replace batteries if required
✔ Ensure alarms are clean and free from dust
✔ Check you have alarms installed in key areas of your home

Daylight Saving Ends:

🗓 Sunday, 5 April 2026
⏰ At 3:00am, clocks go back to 2:00am

While many devices will update automatically, don’t forget to adjust manual clocks before heading to bed on Saturday night.

This simple habit, when the clocks change, check your smoke alarms, can make all the difference.

The statutory bushfire danger period in the Shoalhaven ends at midnight on March 31.

Landowners in Rural Fire District who undertake vegetation pile burns after this date do not require a fire safety permit - however you still have an obligation to notify the RFS and your neighbours at least 24 hours before you commence burning.

Visit www.rfs.nsw.gov.au and click on the NOTIFY portal.

Don’t forget to check the weather forecast; bush and grass fires still occur in Autumn and Winter if conditions are conducive to the ignition and spread of fire.

A huge shout-out to Pelican Rocks Cafe! 🐟🍟
We wanted to send a massive thank you to the team at Pelican Rocks for their incredible support during our recent Home Fire Safety Awareness Day.
Not only do they serve up some of the best seafood around, but they also kept our hungry firefighters fueled and ready to go with amazing catering throughout the event. It’s local legends like this that make our community so strong.
Next time you’re near the water, make sure to drop in, grab a meal, and support the business that supports our volunteers! 👨‍🚒🚒
