Eltham Skate Park will be closed from Thursday 17 September to Friday 18 September.

We're trialing a new surface treatment designed to make graffiti removal safer and easier, while maintaining ramp grip for skaters.

The closure is expected to last up to 48 hours.

🦘 Wildlife road strikes are most common at dawn and dusk, but small changes in how we drive can make a big difference.

We're initially focusing on Nillumbik's 10 highest wildlife road-strike locations on council managed roads with targeted signage and reminders to help drivers:
• Slow down 🐌
• Stay alert ☕
• Watch for movement on roadsides 👀
• Follow wildlife warning signs ⚠️

By changing how we drive in high-risk areas, we can help reduce road strikes and create safer roads for people and native animals.

Last night, we were proud to come together at Kangaroo Ground to recognise and thank the dedicated CFA volunteers who help keep Nillumbik safe.

The annual Blessing of the Fleet ceremony is a longstanding tradition that brings brigades, volunteers and the community together ahead of the fire season. Led by Rev. Mohit Sampson, CFA District 14 Chaplain, the ceremony provided an opportunity to acknowledge the commitment, courage and service of our local firefighters, and to wish them a safe season ahead.

As part of the evening, Council contributed $49,000 to support the ongoing work of Nillumbik's CFA brigades and groups.

We are incredibly grateful for the volunteers who give their time to protect our community and stand ready when we need them most. Thank you for your service.

With fire season approaching, now is the time for all of us to get prepared. Join us at the Bushfire and Community Safety Expo on Sunday 18 October to access expert advice, practical information and resources to help you and your family get ready.
