🌿🇦🇺 Greenlands Out & About! 🇦🇺🌿
Exploring History, Geography and the Great Outdoors!
Today our Year 4-5-6 class enjoyed a fantastic day of learning and adventure on their excursion to Tenterfield and Girraween National Park.
The day began with breathtaking views and morning tea from Mount Mackenzie Lookout, where students were able to appreciate the unique landscape of the Northern Tablelands and learn about the geography and history of the region.
Students then visited the historic Tenterfield School of Arts, often referred to as the birthplace of Federation, where they explored the important role Sir Henry Parkes and the Tenterfield Oration played in shaping modern Australia. Kevin, Hannah and the team were excellent hosts.
The afternoon was spent immersed in the natural beauty of Girraween National Park. Students explored the Visitor Information Centre and enjoyed walks to the Granite Arch, along the Wyberba Walk, and around the beautiful Bald Rock Creek Circuit. Along the way, they observed fascinating granite formations, native plants, wildlife habitats and evidence of weathering and erosion, bringing their classroom learning to life.
A huge thank you to our wonderful parent helpers, Mrs Pavey and Mr Barnett, and to our staff Mrs Stevenson and Mrs Hiscock for their support, enthusiasm and assistance throughout the day and helping make the excursion such a successful experience for our students.
Excursions like these provide invaluable opportunities for students to connect their learning with the real world, build friendships, develop independence and create lasting memories.
