Last week was a relatively calm operational period, but our volunteers were still hard at work, contributing over 2,100 hours across response efforts, training, and community engagement.
Across South East NSW, teams also enjoyed some fantastic WOW Day celebrations—recognising the dedication and impact of our incredible volunteers. 👏.

The volunteers of South Eastern Zone took advantage of calmer weather and participated in a multitude of training courses, multi-agency exercises and community engagement this week. In an exciting boost to flood rescue capability, multiple units participated in High Clearance Vehicle training, as well as a boat operator course on Lake Conjola🛥️

NSW SES volunteers also helped coordinate and participated in a multiagency airfield rescue exercise in Mittagong. The exercise simulated an emergency landing by an incoming fixed wing aircraft, with 3 persons trapped within the airframe ✈️

Over 35 Marine Rescue and NSW SES Volunteers participated in Flood Rescue Training at Nelligan on the Clyde River on the 9th of May. Crews from both agencies were mixed between vessels to promote knowledge sharing and interoperability. The on water operators performed different roles in a simulated flood rescue operation involving 9 vessels across two sectors north and south of the Nelligan Bridge. These exercises strengthen rescue skills and communication between agencies in preparation of future flooding events. Thank you to the NSW SES and Marine Rescue volunteers that gave up their Saturday to make the exercise a success.
