Goulburn Then and Now. Hibernian Hotel Goulburn 'The Hibo'

The Hibernian Hotel was one of Goulburn’s original hotels, first licensed in July 1850. Dr William Hayley took over the building in 1871, to use it as his dispensary. It was reopened by Angus McInnes as the Hibernian Hotel, in 1880, and has been in continuous operation since.

Originally, a two storey brick building, a third storey with verandahs to each level was added c.1890. The building was considerably modified in the 1930s, when the building was rendered and the parapet detailing removed, along with the verandahs to the upper storeys. The adjoining property to the right was purchased by the hotel in the 1940s and a new single storey addition was made.

Elite table tennis is coming to Goulburn this weekend, with the 2026 Table Tennis Australia Tour New South Wales set to deliver a fast-paced weekend of high-level competition.

As the third stop on the national four-event tour series, the 2026 TTA Tour New South Wales will bring together national squad members and emerging players from across the country to compete in professionally run events designed to mirror the structure of the National Championships.
