Job Title: Checkmate Smoke Alarm and Fire Extinguisher Technician

Position Type: Casual/ Part Time

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 15-20 hours per week, willing to provide flexible work arrangement if required.

Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities:
1. Smoke Alarm Compliance Testing:
- Conduct regular inspections of smoke alarms to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Test functionality, battery life, and alarm audibility.
2. Smoke Alarm Installations:
- Install new smoke alarms in residential and commercial properties.
- Ensure proper placement and functionality.
3. Diagnosing Problem Smoke Alarms:
- Troubleshoot and identify issues with malfunctioning smoke alarms.
- Repair or replace faulty components as needed.
4. General Maintenance Jobs:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks related to smoke alarms and fire extinguishers.
- Keep records of maintenance activities.
5. Vehicle and Shed Cleaning:
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of company vehicles and equipment storage areas.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Good Communication Skills:
- Interact professionally with tenants, homeowners, real estate agents, and staff.
- Clearly convey information regarding smoke alarm services.
• Technical Requirements:
- Basic competence in using a Smartphone for communication and documentation.
- Valid driver’s license for travel within the designated service area.
• Physical Capabilities:
- Comfortable with physical tasks such as climbing ladders and handling equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry smoke alarms and fire extinguishers.
• Professional Appearance:
- Represent the Checkmate brand with excellent grooming and presentation.
• Certifications (or Willingness to Obtain):
- Blue Card (for working with children and young people).
- White Card (for construction work).
- Open Queensland Manual Driver License
- Certificates in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing along with, Inspect and Test Emergency and Exit Lighting Systems (training is ongoing for approx. 6 months online after commencement of employment).
