Yellow Ribbon Day is the physical way that people can show support for all Rural Fire Brigades and the volunteers who wear the yellow coat and ride the yellow trucks.

With 1,400 Rural Fire Brigades defending 93% Of Queensland, the 27,000 Rural Fire Brigade volunteers are the frontline of our states community defence.

Not tied to any political claims and not as a fundraiser, the intent of the day is to engender a positive conversation about the volunteers who do it for free to keep us all safe.

On Wednesday 16th September wear a yellow ribbon to show your support.

GOOMBURRA REPURCHASED
Allora Guardian 125 years ago September 1901
The Government purchase of Goomburra Station under the Agricultural Lands Repurchase Act for the purpose of closer settlement, has been completed. The estate contains 13,223 acres and the price paid was Β£3/2/3 per acre or Β£41,249/19/3 for the whole estate.
The throwing open of this land is expected to prove of great benefit to the town of Allora and district, and little doubt is felt that the whole of the land will be readily taken up. Mr Francis Kates M.L.A. has taken endless trouble in bringing the matter to a successful conclusion and is to be thanked for the efforts that he has made.

"It is hard to imagine the Goomburra Valley without its Town Hall. For 120 years it has been the heart of our community, bringing people together through good times and challenging times alike. But community halls don't survive on history aloneβ€”they survive because people are willing to volunteer. I sincerely hope our community will once again step forward so that future generations can enjoy the same hall that has served us so well for the past 120 years."
