Goomburra Town Hall is proud to welcome Clare Cowley and The Flames for a special live performance this July.
Clare is an Australian singer-songwriter, musician, and fine artist based in Meanjin/Brisbane whose signature sound blends country, blues-infused gothic folk, and soulful indie melodies.
Raised in Allora, Clare grew up surrounded by music, community singalongs, and country life — influences that continue to shape her powerful storytelling and heartfelt performances today.
After touring her second album Desire Notes through Queensland, Victoria, and Tasmania, Clare is now preparing for the release of her third album Synthetic Lover in 2026.

GTH Raffle Go Pink Raffle - Tickets for sale IGA 10th June 2026 - 8.30 - 12.30
N Macdonald has generously donated another expertly crafted quilt for the GO Pink Trivia Night fundraiser. Her kindness and talent continue to make a real difference in our community. The previous quilt donated by Naralie was won by Shirley Cornhill, who then generously donated it to another local community group to raffle, spreading even more support and kindness throughout our region. Tickets are $2 with $1 to NBC and $1 to GTH.

GOOMBURRA VALLEY QUINTET
Catherine Welch has sent us this interesting image of what I call the ‘Goomburra Valley Quintet’. Catherine is a great-granddaughter of John and Eliza Kirchin who came to Goomburra from England in 1913. She is a granddaughter of Leonard ‘Taffy’ and Beatrice Welch (nee Kirchin) who lived at Goomburra, and a daughter of Arthur Welch who attended the Goomburra State School in the 1940s.
Has anyone any thoughts on this photo and can they name the two unnamed members of the group?

‘GLENBROOK’ GOOMBURRA
This photo courtesy Catherine Welch, is taken in the 1940s on ‘Glenbrook’, Goomburra, share farmed by her great-grandparents, John and Eliza Kirchin and family. It is taken looking north towards Dalrymple Creek from the back of the house and shows two aspects of life on a farm at the time, the dairy cows grazing amongst the farm machinery, and in the foreground is the outdoor wash house with its concrete washing tubs and the kerosene hurricane lantern hanging from the roof for an early morning wash. Also in the picture the outdoor ‘dunny’ can be seen.
