Alexandrina Council

Alexandrina Council The Alexandrina region is uniquely positioned in the picturesque Southern Fleurieu Peninsula. Every town, every pocket of the region is unique.

What we call Alexandrina is a great deal more than the sum of its parts. Every place and every person has a story to tell. The Alexandrina Council area comprises of 182,684 hectares. It extends from the north-western side of Lake Alexandrina to the Murray Mouth and the western end of the Coorong - taking in river communities of Langhorne Creek, Milang, Clayton Bay, Goolwa and Hindmarsh Island. It

extends along the south coast to Port Elliot, Middleton and inland to Mount Compass, Currency Creek and Strathalbyn. A2040 is our plan to thrive for the next twenty years. Across this period, the community’s vision for Alexandrina to be more liveable, green and connected is addressed in plans with long-term strategic and resourcing requirements.

Now open for feedback 📣 Proposed closure of West Creek Road, Langhorne Creek (portion of).

The future of West Creek Road, Langhorne Creek, has been considered by Council in 2023 and 2025.

At the October 2025 meeting, Council resolved to proceed to community engagement on the proposal to close a portion of West Creek Road to vehicular traffic under Section 32 of the Road Traffic Act 1961.

When a road is closed under Section 32, it can mean the road remains as road but is closed to vehicle traffic.

Consultation closes 5pm, Friday 26 June 2026.
