Goodger was far more that Staier’s, Watts and Welch’s. Buttsworths and so many others were/are all parts of the local scene and we look forward to their input

The photo of this post - Staier’s and Watts. The small girl is thought to be Esme Staier - first child of Arthur

Jim Watts (left)- a tower of strength, was a bullocky (bullock team driver) before he was a farmer - from Killarney if my memory is any good. In pic he is rolling a smoke, lived to a very old age

Arthur Staier is next to the right, his parents to his right. For the great grandfather , already a massive technological change had taken place during his lifetime , pre electricity, pre cars, pre internal combustion, pre aircraft etc etc

Anyone out there know the Moore family? I recall the name only, know nothing else apart from info written on back of photo

Petrol/kero Farmall M, and likely a V4 Wisconsin engine on the thresher

An on-point photo given the issues our nation is facing

This is Vick Watts (Watts family of Goodger), at Moonie, when they (American Oil Co) had the 3 oil wells there, and a pipeline through to Lytton refinery in Brisbane. I remember my father Colin Staier had a test tube of Moonie oil, they sold them as tourist souvenirs back in the day. Was a very low viscosity crude oil

I would have to date the car which seems to be a Ford Customline V8 Twin Spinner, these were new in 1958, so maybe a year or three after that

“The school at Goodger was originally the Thinoomba Provisional School and was moved to
Goodger in 1915, the tender for the work being won by J.G. Jacobson. The school was erected in
the north east corner of reserve 53, Taabinga east, and was named Stratharlie, after the property
opposite the school site. It was a weatherboard building but was classified as a tent school as it
had canvas roll up blinds on each side. Its first teacher was Miss S. Dunn, who was replaced that
same year by Mavis Lewis. Olivia Malynn took over in 1916. As with most other schools in the
rural regions it soon became too small for the growing population and a new school was
constructed by the Works Department in 1920. The school was first occupied on 25 October that
year and the opening was celebrated with a picnic on 26 November, 1920. Due to the eventual
decline in population at Goodger the school was forced to close on 10 August, 1962, the building
